I feel pretty rough today. I have the light, sick, floaty hangover associated with staying up very late drinking free champagne in a largely canape -free environment, and I may also be wearing many of yesterday's clothes.
Obviously, I shouldn't complain about being made to go to excellent parties as part of my job, but it does get tiring when I'm expected to be awake and clever the next day.
Anyone else have to do a lot of this? 🙂
Huh, you think you have it good.
I have just finished a meeting where someone took a dump and a woman had her boobies out within the last 30mins in my office.
Must admit i took it all in my stride.
I used to, and am quite glad my drinking is purely for leisure, these days.
I know exactly how you feel - it's a privilege, but a double-edged one!

You work in Social Services?! 😯 😉
Nope the motor trade
House of commons?

Or the porn industry?
Lol. Sadly no.
What job do you do?
I did it for 15 years, all over the world.
Never did me any harm!
I'm a lawyer. I probably have to do a lot less of it than PR people or salesmen I guess. But hey. 🙂

Since the Downturn(tm), it's all been rather (literally) sober, mainly as budgets have been slashed and regional lawyers tend not to have the chutzpah of our City brethren.
New job doesn't suggest there will be much in the way of champagne soirées, but I shall ensure that any private practice types looking for work will have their hospitality abused... 😀
I bet you don't feel as rough as some of my 9am class looked this morning.
I've been up since 5am, after an incredibly sensible bedtime last night.
Woman comes into my office to discuss buying a van. She is rather attractive (With her also female business partner). Baby she is carrying is getting grouchy so she asks if its ok with me for her to breast feed. I reply "I may have to concentrate a bit more but go ahead". 10 mins later the baby unloads in his nappy and she has to clean him on my spare desk. Two 1sts for me tbh
When I work on films the cast usually have to leave pretty promptly at the end of their part of the shooting, but there will usually still at least a day of pickups and cut-aways to shoot. So we always end up having the wrap party when almost everyone on the shoot hasn't in fact wrapped, just the 'talent'. So at almost the end of 12 weeks of 13-day fortnights, shooting 12 hrs a day we party like the worlds going to end, then carry on shooting the next day. Bedlam.
I fell asleep standing up at one of the first wrap parties I went to
Yes. At a recent global meeting, despite having food poisoning and ot drinking myself, my bar bill for three nights was £1800.....
Being a manager I am expected to wander around in the bar paying peoples bar bills for them.
It does get boring after a while.....
Several years of working with central government ministeries and the alcholic civil servants that 'work' there (start work at 10, go to pub at 12, get back to desk at 2, go back to pub at 4) is thankfully behind me now, the psycological scars have healed quite well but I probably did myself permanent physical damage.
Its called product evaluation, and is part of my job.
Off the booze now after a self inflicted stomach bug caused by leaving my camelbak not in its usual place, the freezer, but leaning up against a radiator.

This will be a new experience for you then...
I impersonate an awake and clever person surprisingly well nick. 😉

Lucky you - I live across the road from one of the pubs that they frequent. Honestly, from midday on it's packed - obviously on a Friday, but Thursdays and Wednesday are heading that way now. Doesn't help that Channel 4's meeeja types pile in there too. AND they leave fag butts on my car. ****in pikey scum
I'm in medical sales and hospitality budgets got a good kick in the slats last year. I can't be bothered with the hangers-on at freebies, the 'I once bought something from your company 20years ago, therefore I'm entitled to stand here all night drinking free beer'
