It's a cool thing. I'd not get in it, but it's cool.

I wouldn't get in it as I've been hit whilst stationary a few times over the years as driver and passenger.
I'd hate to see what would happen in a minor shunt with no seat belts and lots of holes in metal to strike your knees on.

God I'm dull these days.

That said I'd probably think the same as a teenager after cutting my knees on the dash of a company car in a shunt.

Vauxhall Cavalier, the round one had a hard plastic lip on the storage bin above the glovebox. Cut both knees,
imagine that replaced with a cheese grater and no seatbelts.

Old cars are obviously less safe and that's the risk you take but that looks scary.

I'm sure different materials (titanium, magnesium, carbon fibre) etc would get you to the same weight but at far increased cost and wouldn't look as 'cool'

I must say I do like a flared 'speedhole' where appropriate but not to that 911 extent.

A long time ago I learned that a friend of a friend had a set of dimple dies. We carefully drilled the word 'SPEEDHOLES' into the bonnet of a volvo 240 then expertly dimpled them. It looked amazing to our youthful/idiot minds.

It was one of those ideas that took 10 seconds to conceive and then about 8 hours to realise.

It was worth it for a the laughs it got at the local car nerd meets. Cool story I know.
