TV show announced. No actors mentioned, but the team behind it are a mix of Battlestar Galactica and the 2012 Dredd film.
Fingers crossed...
Just seen that.
Well that's good news! Wonder if it'll be a Netflix or Amazon exclusive...
The last movie was great. Hopefully this should be in a similar style.
I think a series will suit the character better than a film, should be good. I hope they do it a different story for each episode rather than some contrived series arc.
It would be great if they could convince Karl Urban to reprise the role.

If it's Netflix or Amazon it should be easy. £££££££££££££££
The Dark Judges and Cursed Earth storylines were always my favourite
If its as good as the last film then this will be interesting!
He was in a cop show that got canned...Almost Human or something...was decent.
He was excellent in the last Dredd and I suspect he'd be excellent as Dredd in a TV series.
funkmasterp - MemberIt would be great if they could convince Karl Urban to reprise the role.
I don't think he'd need too much persuasion, he's always been behind a film sequel. (I love that when interviewed and asked what he'd like to do, he says Origins. Not "a Dredd origins story", but the story Origins- he's One Of Us!
The Dark Judges and Cursed Earth storylines were always my favourite.
Judge Child makes it three for me, but would soooo love to see the Burger Wars episodes from Cursed Earth. Just cautiously optimistic that Tweak not like A.L.F. and Spikes not like Master Jagger in "Vinyl".
Anything with Judge Death please..
I wonder if Walter will make an appearance?
Urgh, Walter was crap from a crap story line, IIRC Wagner and Grant were off doing something else at that point.
Ssidney would be a good cliff hanger...
Block Mania and anything with Judge Oleg.
Who would you be your cast?
Dredd and Anderson from the film. Obvs.
Giant?
De Marco?
Hersey?
Volt?
Rico?

He was, and I thought it was great. It was fluff, but it was great fluff.
The news story was an EW exclusive (according to EW). Here's a link.

christ, that's a shit site!!
The robot wars and call me Kenneth.
Dark Judges
Block Wars (probably a series arc that one, especially if they follow it up with the War)
Cursed Earth
This could be amazing.
This could be total shit.
Scared to get my hopes up.
There was good and bad in both films imo.
This is the link that IM Global Television shared on facebook:

Chopper. (graffiti artist and surfer)
The Pit would be grand tbh. Gives a long arc and short stories, a smaller more digestible cast and background...
😀
I'm hoping it's going to be good and that they can get Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby on board. I thought the 2012 Dredd film was light years ahead of the sly stallone abomination even with a smaller budget, just had more of the vibe of the comics imo.
as above, the Chopper stories and maybe a revisit of the angel gang. judge death would be awesome too
Please dont be crap 🙂
really really hope this isnt shit 🙂
North West peeps might be interested in this....

Facebook page has a few Karl Urban pics on it, but whether that means anything - who knows!?

I have to say - the way they are talking in this interview - I've allowed myself to get a little excited:
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/138047-judge-dredd-mega-city-one-tv-show-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-dredd-sequel
I too am excited. So many potentially excellent stories to tell.
If they keep the fell of the last movie then it should be good, even if the cityscape is a little disappointing.
Charley's War could be a good one as well.
TBH there's so much good material in Dredd they are spoilt for choice!
Karl Urban not secured yet according to latest podcast.
http://2000ad.com/post/1794
They want him, but trying to work around other projects/issues might not work
Sounds very very very early.
Karl Urban was good but they could do much better I'm sure. Michael Fassbender would be perfect but he's too much if a big movie star.
There are many great tv actors out there.
The last movie was great.
+1
I though Karl Urban was much better than Stallone (not very hard).
He's brilliant as Dr McCoy...
And OT but I always thought that Strontium Dogs/Johnny Alpha could be a good film
I'm in agreement in that there will be someone else just as good/better.jimjam - MemberKarl Urban was good but they could do much better I'm sure. Michael Fassbender would be perfect but he's too much if a big movie star.

I've seen too much Fassbender recently though, so I'll pass on that.
I'd love to see Button Man made into a film, it's been talked about for over a decade but seems to have stalled.
Just finished that podcast I linked to - Well worth a listen.
How dare you, Alex Simon. You can never get enough Fassbender.
Fingers crossed for Karl Urban. Terffic as Dredd. He's great as McCoy & He was great in Almost Human, ridiculous that it was cancelled.
Hopefully he's free after they finish Thor Ragnarock.
Strontium Dog would be good. ABC Warriors would be better. Would have to be an 18 though, there's no way you could tone it down.
Can't wait thought the last film was ace.
Hopefully (as others have already said) the series will be of the same calibre as the film.

Or just have a good series arc 🙄
I'll watch both of those tonight Kimbers, both look good.

Yeah, a good arc is essential imo. Contrived no, but I think we've been conditioned to expect them over the last 15 years as quality tv has come to the fore. If you just have individual episodes then you relegate it to B grade content.
I get why the comics would lend themselves well to self contained episodes, there were 1000s of stories that didn't develop Dredd as a character but conversely there were some great Dredd character arcs that played out over months and even years.
