We've just signed up for VF broadband #pray4us...

Part of the deal is an Apple tv box and a subscription to the streaming service. Not bothered what is on the streaming service but would like to know how to use the box otherwise.

Our main tv has all the apps we need built in so no external sticks or boxes. The Apple box will sit in another room attached to a tv yet to be bought.

Question is - assuming the tv is not attached to a physical aerial - what channels are possible? Will the Apple tv receive any internet based 'normal' channels like the BBCs and ITV or only their catch up services?

Also, does Netflix come through Apple tv or are they enemies so to speak...?

Clueless

Apple TV will give you access to all the catch up stuff, Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney + and Apple TV+

Subscriptions obviously required.

It will basically give you everything apart from Skygo - but you can get nowtv.

Bbc, itv, all4, Netflix, prime, Disney+, bt sport...

We don’t use an aerial with our tv now, it all comes through the Apple TV box over WiFi

Our main tv has all the apps we need built in so no external sticks or boxes.

But if you bought another TV Shirley that would also have all the apps you need.
Therefore atv possibly redundant? 🤔

Sharkbait - the new tv will be less fancy than the main one. I'm sure it will have much of what we need but I don't know until I choose something. Just wanted to know if the Apple box coming our way meant that I could esssentially use the tv as a non aerial 'dumb' screen i.e. just a plug to the socket and an HDMI to the Apple box?

Existing tv is Freesat and we still use 'normal' way of accessing BBC, ITV etc. To be honest, I wasn't even aware that all bbc content could be streamed live via the iplayer until I was told up there, I thought it was just their own selection of programmes that they offer for catch up!

We have an Apple TV with a computer monitor as our main tv. Am yet to find a channel/service I can’t get an app for.
