We have a tent...it’s massive. Is there much of a market for nearly new tents or would it just be throwing money away and so it would be better to live with it? Is there a good, lively, camping forum?

How massive? We've gone campervan and have a large 3-man tent taking up space in the garage so I'm also wondering whether it's worth keeping it. I reckon it's unlikely I'll get a good price for it but better to be out of my way. Are you ever going to use yours again? If not, anything you get for it will be better than nothing.

If only there was an internet search facility which might take one to camping fora to see how active they are and how much used tents sell for

Thanks. But such an internet search facility might take me to the equivalent of Bikeradar not STW hence the request for a recommendation. Thanks again for playing though. Happy Monday morning.

Have a look at completed listings on eBay for tents similar to yours and see if the prices they go for make it worth your while selling it.
As scotroutes said, anything is better than nothing if you don't intend using it again.

There is an active market out there for camping gear. I bought our first tent used for £200 and sold it after 18 months use for the same, similar with a van awning which I bought used (was still in brand new condition). Clearly if you bought the tent new then you're not going to get your money back, but in the same token they're not worthless either.

bought - I think my first eBay purchase - a mahoosive s/h tent - Wild Country Homestead. back in 2004. Was a good purchase, though shipping was a big cost. We later sold it on to a local family. So there is a market for such tents, definitely.

E-Bay is probably your best bet tbh. The tent market's a bit weird in that tents are aggressively discounted, so the RRP or SRP doesn't have much real world meaning - Alpkit got caught out by this when they first launched a tent range with prices based on the RRP of other tents in the market, then found out too late that no-one sells at anywhere near RRP apart from Hilleberg, I think.
