I had a Viewranger account which allowed me to download the entire UK OS map. Since it's moved to Outdooractive this is no longer possible. I have a sub to OS and again it's not possible.

Is there any provider which you can have a downloaded copy of the entire UK OS map?

Thanks all

I’d like to know, I also used to use Viewranger.

If you’re an Android user look for an app called My Trails - I haven’t used it since switching to Apple but I do think it used to let you download a OS.

I’ve been using OSMAnd Maps for open street map in France & Switzerland (downloaded before I left) which has actually been surprisingly good. I’ve used it a bit at home too but do prefer OS.

The Memory-Map app allows you to do this, but it’s not as smooth on iOS as either ViewRanger or the OS app (which is great after recent updates), and the software is much better on PC than Mac (the latter has many fewer features).

I had Viewranger & thought I’d lost all my paid for tiles. I mailed the OA folks who told me to do something & hey presto, I’ve now got full OS in 50,000 & 25,000.
I can’t actually remember what was but I didn’t pay any more money.
It’s pretty basic & isn’t great when there’s no signal though. Otherwise fine.

As above, Backcountry Navigator. Can download the whole of the UK in OS at different scales. Also covers various overseas maps if you go abroad. There's a 30 day trial and the full app is £20 as a one off.

Memory Map - there is a new app Memory Map for All which is a lot smoother. Very reasonable price for full uk maps towards the end of the year (before new version released).

Is this a trick question?
If not then the answer is OSApp. I've not downloaded it all yet, but all the bits I need are on my phone.

( though tbh it doesn't play that well on my shit samsung)

I have the OS app and I've not managed to get it to download the sections of map I want yet. Whenever I try and download any sort of sizeable chunk of map, it gives up half way through the download. I've contacted support but based on previous experience I'm not very hopeful the issue will be resolved. I've tried it on a couple of different (Android) phones and get the same issue - I think it's some sort of server timeout issue their end.

This thread has prompted me to check out backcountrynavigator XE - which includes OS mapping FOC. For a one-off fee, OS mapping is downloadable.

Given the various other issues I have with the OS app, I think I'll be canning my subscription and going with BCN XE. Considering the quality of OS mapping, the OS app is shite by comparison.

Back country navigator uses the os maps layer from bing, which is a little out of date, but probably not a huge issue .

Osmaps app is frustratingly difficult to download large areas, is you save gpx route then it will download the relevant map tiles and you can select an area for download separately, but only when you've zoomed in quite far.

My favourite app is still back county navigator, but I use a combo that, komoot and os maps along with a Garmin if I'm following a route.

I'm using the OSMaps app and (re)bought paper copies of the 1:25 maps of the areas I wanted, which include digital downloads. Those are offline downloads. You do need to check it every now and again as either iOS or OSMaps updates occasionally seem to dump all the downloaded maps and you don't want to try to do it over a slow data connection.

Biggest issue I have with it is that because I don't also have the 1.50 mapping if I try and zoom out to see where I am in the wider area I get a blank zoom level and then the overview map. Theres a "lock 1:25" button but it doesn't seem to work (or visibly toggle) and I've never managed to get a response from their app support.

I have the OS app to supplement my Garmin, which has the whole UK loaded. I've occasionally made a false "route" to force a map download of an area I'll be exploring. If you can plan it in advance like this, it works well enough.

I'd be interested to know how large the maps are that you are able to download, as it's the same method I use and I can't make it work for larger map sizes.

As an example, last weekend I plotted a route from Ben Gulabin to Huntly. It spent a wee while downloading the map, then gave up. downloading it in lots of little chunks works, but takes AGES and is fairly frustrating.

Somewhere I've the entire collection of memory map files, had to use an app that's no longer supported to read them as memory map refused to support legacy stuff but people are welcome if they know of a workaround.
