Shoot. I have a couple of inch tear in the sleeve of my Rab Infinity down jacket.

Can anyone recommend a durable repair patch kit?

There is some special clear gortex repair tape that a friend of mine had good success with - gorilla tape worked well on a down jacket I still own - but the repair was on the inside so aesthetically wasn't an issue .. If you care what it looks like try the clear tape or stitch a patch over it ..

For a tape repair I'd use "spinnaker tape" - sold for repairing lightweight sails, kites, etc, and not inconsistent in weight to down jacket fabric. Peel off the backing and it's self adhesive.

If you want to be ambitious, clear the down away from the inside of the tear and put the patch on the inside. Less obvious, if it works...

I've used bits of gorilla tape carefully placed on the inner side of the pertex on my Rab neutrino vest, still holding fine years later and if you take your time it's hardy noticeable

Spinnaker taper here - two types, both adhesive, but one became even stronger when warmed with iron. Waterproof adhesive and every colour you can imagine. Ebay has lots.

I used some of that iron hemming tape(already had it in the house) cut to size and placed carefully on the inside of the tear.

Then placed some brown paper(I'm sure other colours will be fine too) and ironed it, ended up with a near invisible repair.

+1 for Spinnaker tape - basically it's ripstop tape.
Don't Rab do repairs for a fee?

I know that every down jackets have a duct tape patch but send it to Rab for repair. mine was done and returned in 3 days and I can't figure out how they did it. For a few days I was convinced they'd sent me a new jacket.

This stuff works really well and you can hardly even see it.

I used that tenacious tape to repair an Ortlieb pannier on a bike tour. Great stuff. Easy to find in the US, not so easy here.

Thanks for the link to that Tenacious tape, handy stuff to know about. I've often wondered what to use if one of my nylon jackets or my tent got a tear, I'll get some of that to keep around just in case. 😀

Having a dig around these people seem to be as cheap for spinnaker tape as any:

Tenacious tape all the way. Don't use duck tape. It has a nastry habit of shifting. Then leaving adhesive smeared over things when used on fabric. Short term fix maybe some sniper tape.

Posting so I can find this later. All my jackets have tears in and gaffa tape isn't cutting it.

Or my tip is have an excellent wife as a sewist......absolutely shredded my Arab Generator Smock in the ice by stuffing the handlebars in the pocket when I had a slow speed off......proper mess, I thought it was fit for the bin but some tiny stitches over several hours and it's goood as almost new......
Still ordered another jacket though as I'm starting to look like a trail tramp as it's covered in goretex patches and tape etc 😆
