A
Or
B
B, I think. The hand cups it naturally, though A might be better if you've got sweaty hands.
On what planet is it B!
It's A!
Your toilet roll comes off the back, doesn't it?
A looks correct to me but B doesn't.
A.
"Sweaty hands" 😯 a normal requirement when choosing door handles 😆
Where did you find B?
Having said that, it does look like a more advantageous leverage.
Looks weird, but looks better suited to its purpose.
It’s A. The the upturn on end of the the handle is to stop oily hands slipping off the handle. That doesn’t work with B. Just my opinion.
Whilst they both look shite, b is definitely MORE shite that A.
A is 'correct' but you can do what you want. I don't much care for either. I always think of those handles as a pastiche of a style that never really existed.
Hold your arm out straight in front of you and imagine using each one and the orientation of your wrist to turn the handle, whoever thought B was a good idea was a troubled individual!
Your toilet roll comes off the back, doesn’t it?
You take that back! 😡
Where did you find B?
Everywhere! It's a thing you know.
Where did you find B?
Surely B is an opposite handed handle which has been turned 180 degrees?
Normally you wouldn't be able to do that but I am assuming that the spring and cam have been broken or are missing.
Both facing the wrong way, they'd be easier facing to the left.
B lacks somewhere for your thumb to wrap.
Assuming bought in pairs, B is A installed on the other side of the door, possibly with a little circlip fumbling?
I was going to select A but when I looked at the handles in our house they're all like B 😂🤦♂️
Both facing the wrong way, they’d be easier facing to the left.
Spot the lefty!
I think the person who installed my windows must have been a lefty... EVERY SINGLE ONE is the wrong way around!! I'd never even considered window latches could be the wrong way around until I moved in here!

Maybe not. Might be so you can open the window and still have your fighting hand free.
“Sweaty hands” 😯 a normal requirement when choosing door handles
We've got a lovely round brass knob on the inside of our front door. The other day I'd just put some moisturiser on my hands and was taking the dog out, lead in one hand. I literally couldn't open the door...
I went for hexagonal door knobs i made myself. hex gives the grip, a nice timber(Douglas fir from one of the doors) with a nice brass collar. Knobs look so much better than handles.
Spot the lefty!
😀
Reverse the photos and we have something to talk about, as is they're equally irritating.

Knobs might look better but they are not as practical as lever furniture.
If you are holding something in both hands you can't turn a knob with your elbow or knee.
Also dogs and cats can't turn door knobs.
I just glanced over to see our bedroom door is a 'B' (as fitted by previous owners). They seem to work well enough in this orientation.
Oily sausage fingers love handles. A or B. Either way.
If you are holding something in both hands you can’t turn a knob with your elbow or knee.
A good point
Also dogs and cats can’t turn door knobs.
I'm not sure they can reach handles for that matter, paws tend to be short.
Cats, being remarkably intelligent creatures, overcome the problem of door handles being too high by jumping.
Not only does jumping allow them to reach the door handles but the weight of their bodies facilitates the opening of the doors.
Are we sure about door knobs?
A/
Or B/?
I'm with Grim straight handles. Go and try a load in B & Q or somewhere, I got all mine from Screwfix, they still feel nice to use now, just seem to fit the hand better. We had similar to the OP when we moved in, the scroll had a little knob on it, the number of times that somehow lodged under my wedding ring was frightening.
I prefer knobs to handles because you can get clothing and rings caught on handles! I recently changed all my handles in a style similar to above into knobs
If you're going to use copper based ironmongery then you need to clean then regularly to maintain the oligodynamic properties having taken any lacquer off.
For the original question, I prefer B aesthetically.
I prefer B aesthetically.
Shocking.
A door handle is not a brake lever, you only need to push down to open. In fact, sometimes more purchase is needed to close an ill fitting door, so B is better.
That inverted one up there ^^^ looks like something Larry Grayson might use 😃
Is that why he always had a problem with the door being left open?
👏👏👏
oligodynamic
Great word. 👏
Mine are slightly convex, strangely enough they seem to follow the same curve seems to be a match for the concave shape of the my hand when held out in front of me. Almost as if someone had made them that way deliberately!
A is better when opening the door with your elbow. As you do.
B just looks so wrong and awkward it makes my teeth hurt

I have never caught my clothing on a knob but I once caught my...well that's another thread altogether
A is better when opening the door with your elbow. As you do.
What's the best type of light switch for turning off with your chin @BillMC ?
Good question. Bit of a dilemma if you're Michael Gove.
It's not very hygienic to use your chin to turn a light switch off.
I always use my elbow.

But then I'd either spill my tea or the toast would slide of my plate.
Are both your arms set in plaster?

"Alexa, turn the lights on."
Anyway A. Although that reminds me I need to change the inside handle on my front door to a knob, as the dog is also a knob and opens the bloody door if I don't lock it. Which is a pain.
Amazing how many of us have them the A way.
Ours are in the kitchen too.
I think B just cups your palm better.
B just looks so wrong and awkward it makes my teeth hurt
I think it's usage is in the name handle. Using your teeth to open it was never in the designers remit.

Hendrix played his guitar with his teeth though.
Makes you think.
Surely B is the way it's designed to function for ergonomics?
A is incorrect assembly.
It's not a question of aesthetics. B allows you to grip the outside of the handle for max leverage. A would encourage you to grip the inside, which would be fine if it didn't require so much force to operate most of them.
Alexa, turn the lights on.”
X4 ...... Not because I hugely agree with it because when ever I've seen this done it takes 4 times before Alexa/hey Google does the right thing ...it's fun to watch though.
We have a flat twisted square profile of fairly solid construction.
Cheap flimsy doors/door handles are a bug bare. When I moved in here you couldn't even slam a door it was made of cardboard and duck spit and would gently waft towards its opening before the air pressure would stop it fully closing.
Like wise the door handles constantly felt like they would come off in your hand when your shut it....
think it’s usage is in the name handle.
Makes you think.....what were you meant to use to turn a door knob ? 😉
Surely B is the way it’s designed to function for ergonomics?
A is incorrect assembly.
I've revised my position on this since doing a practical test.
The upward curve is there to secure the hand and prevent slippage.
B is incorrect assembly.
I've been checking out Prince Andrew's chalet on Rightmove and he's installed 'A' on all the doors. Makes you think......
I bet there are some people on here who think that diagonal bracing on shed doors and garden gates should point downwards from the hinge side.
Makes my blood boil every time I see that.
Tbh I'm surprised that B is even legal.
