All day the sky has been a very weird colour here in this part of not so sunny Derbyshire. Like something out of a disaster movie.
It looks like it could belt down with rain at any minute but everywhere is bone dry.

Yes - the sun is a bloody disk over Manchester and the sky is strangely overcast.
What does it portend?

Well stone the crows just been on Facebook (busy work day clearly) and the first thing that popped us was a local weather centre i follow. Apparently it's a Saharan dust storm courtesy of ophellia.

Sand from the Sahara dragged up by the storm. Really weird yellow colour.
This morning was really dark, it looked like there was going to be a torrential downpour but then nothing happened.

Very yellow light down here in the SE, it's like looking at the world with the white balance set incorrect? Or maybe it's just my window's filthy.

Edit: beaten to it by 4 people in under a minute.

There's a yellow sky with a blood red sun peeking through mist here in North Yorks (Skipton). Very eerie.

Went for a walk at lunch, it looked like the end of the world.

Sadly it didn't and I had to go back to 'work'

Yep - yellow sky here too (Harrogate). Very weird coming back into the office after lunch as it is lit with LEDs so the contrast of the blue against the yellow outdoors is very strange.

Devon this morning was odd. Very humid and still when I walked to work then it got progressively darker until it looked like the world was about to end. Then it got lighter but the weird orange light other have described. Now sunny and breezy.

County Durham. Apocalyptic. We've had to switch all the lights on and even the streetlights came on... Forecast says sunshine and clear skies by 4pm.

Really rather orange in Burnley (the local young women have turned invisible). With the blue lights in the office it looks like every Hollywood movie in the last five years.

It's almost like we're all under the same sky or something.

Grey and orange just off Tottenham Court Road. The end times are here. Glad I got to see Blade Runner 2049 first so that I know what's coming.

After the pink sky and red sun this morning, Nibiru has just landed softly on Cannock Chase.

A few delays on the M6 (southbound) and a couple of hastily erected diversions on the Monkey Trail where it joins back up with Follow The Dog.

Blue skies here in Wiltshire now, but windy and there's still a bit of an odd light. Could be these office windows or there's still some dust in the cloud banks to the East.

It's actually dusty enough to sting your eyes in London.

Ironically given the other thread, a canoe has just drifted past up the Thames (ye,s up, it's windy).

If you're taking photos on your phone, set the White Balance to Daylight, otherwise it'll look very boring indeed.

In the Christian tradition, it is said that the end of the world will be marked by a terrifying and all-encompassing darkness. Across the gospels, Christ advises his followers of the signs of the end days, warning that the sun will darken, the moon will fail to give light, and the stars will fall from heaven. These prophecies are echoed in Revelation, the final book of the Bible, in which the opening of the sixth seal on doomsday prompts a great earthquake and leads to the sun becoming ‘black as sackcloth’ (Revelation 6. 12)

Please tell me it's not the end of the world!! I filled the car up yesterday! I'd have only stuck a tenner in, if I'd have known.

Any advice for camera WB settings for when the sun is as black as sackcloth? I guess I'll need to set shutter speed to 'bulb' for starters??

A very orange sky here in Cambs.

I can confirm this is not a lie....and also that it seems to have confused the wildlife as a pheasant tried to roost on my* wing mirror as I barrelled along at near speed limit velocity

*obviously today was the day I borrowed Mrs R's car and have redecorated the side of it with equal measures of gamebird, glass sprinkles and shattered plastic

Love the pie chart! Glorious blue sky and that ball of fire is well and truly back outside the window. Just had a wander across site and it's windy as **** with various bits of building paraphernalia blowing about though. Neighbours of the site will no doubt be whining in the morning.

In Brighton it went from a normal dull day to so dark all the street lights and solar garden lights came on in the space of 15 mins at about 3pm... I went to see bladerunner at imax last night and thought I'd been transported to that opening scene I even had the ominous soundtrack playing in my head actually got a little panicky the sun had died or something!

Very strange sky this morning down at Royal Portbury Dock, with the deep red sun so high in the sky, when it’s usually on the horizon looking like that. It wasn’t until around 3pm up in Wolverhampton that the sky cleared and the sun came out in a nice blue sky.
Bloody windy back down at Avonmouth an hour or so later, though, and it’s still blowing loudly around the chimney.
