All day the sky has been a very weird colour here in this part of not so sunny Derbyshire. Like something out of a disaster movie.
It looks like it could belt down with rain at any minute but everywhere is bone dry.
Grey and boring here on the sussex coast
Yes - the sun is a bloody disk over Manchester and the sky is strangely overcast.
What does it portend?
dark orange here - like looking through a set of those "driving glasses" you get in the back pages of the sunday supplement...
Well stone the crows just been on Facebook (busy work day clearly) and the first thing that popped us was a local weather centre i follow. Apparently it's a Saharan dust storm courtesy of ophellia.
Sand from the Sahara dragged up by the storm. Really weird yellow colour.
This morning was really dark, it looked like there was going to be a torrential downpour but then nothing happened.
Very yellow light down here in the SE, it's like looking at the world with the white balance set incorrect? Or maybe it's just my window's filthy.
Edit: beaten to it by 4 people in under a minute.
Glorious blue skies and sunshine over Blackpool right now.
Grey/Yellowish sky in Northwest Northumberland ..spooksville !
Yep, yellowy colour light here. The white balance has been changed to "shady".
Went for a walk at lunch, it looked like the end of the world.
Sadly it didn't and I had to go back to 'work'
Yep - yellow sky here too (Harrogate). Very weird coming back into the office after lunch as it is lit with LEDs so the contrast of the blue against the yellow outdoors is very strange.
Devon this morning was odd. Very humid and still when I walked to work then it got progressively darker until it looked like the world was about to end. Then it got lighter but the weird orange light other have described. Now sunny and breezy.
Like night here in Northumberland but with orange hint.
It's very, very odd in south Manchester at the moment. It's sunny with blue sky 😯
County Durham. Apocalyptic. We've had to switch all the lights on and even the streetlights came on... Forecast says sunshine and clear skies by 4pm.
Like night here in Northumberland but with orange hint.
Teesside must be on fire. We shall celebrate.
West London, It currently looks like a photograph from the 1970's out of my window.
IT IS THE END OF DAYS, REPENT. SINNERS. REPENT, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.
The sky has turned murky orange/brown here on the Sussex coast... the sun was behing a 'cloud of fire'..
I think this is the end, people.
DrP
Yup almost monkey.
Yellow and red and on fire here in Milton Keynes.
Beautiful sunshine and 25 c in south of France.
Murky yellow in Ripon
Woke up from me traditional lunchtime snooze and thought I was tripping 😯
Thought it was the acropolis.
It's now orange and grey here on the sarf coast, weird
Yep felt practically dark in Newcastle at lunchtime.
Dark enough that all the automatic streetlights came on.
Monkeyboy has it - Las Vegas 2049
Really rather orange in Burnley (the local young women have turned invisible). With the blue lights in the office it looks like every Hollywood movie in the last five years.
It's almost like we're all under the same sky or something.
It feels like 0247hrs rather than 1447hrs...
Pitch black...
Grey and orange just off Tottenham Court Road. The end times are here. Glad I got to see Blade Runner 2049 first so that I know what's coming.
Sepia skies here in Craigellachie, Speyside.
The view out the window just now...

After the pink sky and red sun this morning, Nibiru has just landed softly on Cannock Chase.
A few delays on the M6 (southbound) and a couple of hastily erected diversions on the Monkey Trail where it joins back up with Follow The Dog.
Blue skies here in Wiltshire now, but windy and there's still a bit of an odd light. Could be these office windows or there's still some dust in the cloud banks to the East.
It's actually dusty enough to sting your eyes in London.
Ironically given the other thread, a canoe has just drifted past up the Thames (ye,s up, it's windy).
Yep, super reddish and apocalyptic on my bike ride in Surrey
The air in Ayrshire tastes like holidays
I'm looking out for four horsemen here in west London - very spooky
Very weird. 15 minutes ago we had yellow mist, now it is a clear blue sky.
London skies increasingly dramatic. Sand clouds reached to about Stratford, Olympic Park but spreading rapidly.. Def end of the world feeling
Lovely bright sunshine and clear skies in Skipton too now. Must be in a well-defined gap between the storm layers.
If you're taking photos on your phone, set the White Balance to Daylight, otherwise it'll look very boring indeed.
In the Christian tradition, it is said that the end of the world will be marked by a terrifying and all-encompassing darkness. Across the gospels, Christ advises his followers of the signs of the end days, warning that the sun will darken, the moon will fail to give light, and the stars will fall from heaven. These prophecies are echoed in Revelation, the final book of the Bible, in which the opening of the sixth seal on doomsday prompts a great earthquake and leads to the sun becoming ‘black as sackcloth’ (Revelation 6. 12)
A very orange sky here in Cambs. It's like someone's stuck a Cokin warming filter over everything!!
It's gone a bit Orangey in that London now.
Car's going to need a wash at the weekend.
Bet you a pound it isn't the end of the world though.
African dust carried by the Storm apparently.
A bit windy out, nearly got blown into a hedge in Essex.
Blue sky’s in Brum. Breezy, and all the cars are now grubby(er).
Was doomsday this morning in West Wales but now it is disappointingly just a bit windy

I thought un-natural orange was a standard look in Essex*
*been waiting for ages to get that joke in.

Please tell me it's not the end of the world!! I filled the car up yesterday! I'd have only stuck a tenner in, if I'd have known.
Any advice for camera WB settings for when the sun is as black as sackcloth? I guess I'll need to set shutter speed to 'bulb' for starters??

A very orange sky here in Cambs.
I can confirm this is not a lie....and also that it seems to have confused the wildlife as a pheasant tried to roost on my* wing mirror as I barrelled along at near speed limit velocity
*obviously today was the day I borrowed Mrs R's car and have redecorated the side of it with equal measures of gamebird, glass sprinkles and shattered plastic
Dark here in west London, deep brown/yellow sky. The air is gritty, and its actually a little uncomfortable to breath.

I thought it was going to be heralded by Trump/Pence?
Back in London now, it does smell a little sandy! 🙂
Love the pie chart! Glorious blue sky and that ball of fire is well and truly back outside the window. Just had a wander across site and it's windy as **** with various bits of building paraphernalia blowing about though. Neighbours of the site will no doubt be whining in the morning.
Double post
Saltburn.
Orange/brown sky this morning, then grey with a red sun, then it got dark now sunny with blue sky. Getting breezy.
I think we've found the culprit

In Brighton it went from a normal dull day to so dark all the street lights and solar garden lights came on in the space of 15 mins at about 3pm... I went to see bladerunner at imax last night and thought I'd been transported to that opening scene I even had the ominous soundtrack playing in my head actually got a little panicky the sun had died or something!

Aberdeen most of today
Completely normal then
There was an apocalyptic red sun here.
I assumed this was the norm in Swindon.
That photo up there of Aberdeen very similar to Dundee (not a great surprise).
Was a bit odd going out for lunch in what may as well have been night time.
If I was Renton's car door, I'd be bricking it.
Very strange sky this morning down at Royal Portbury Dock, with the deep red sun so high in the sky, when it’s usually on the horizon looking like that. It wasn’t until around 3pm up in Wolverhampton that the sky cleared and the sun came out in a nice blue sky.
Bloody windy back down at Avonmouth an hour or so later, though, and it’s still blowing loudly around the chimney.
Wrightyson - my lad has a theory that the setting red sun is God taking the piss out the Forest fans..... 8)

I want to, but do not get this

😆
Swansea first thing with a weird grey red dawn and a warm wind (19 degrees at 7.15)which would have been ok but I watched The Road last night.......
My 7 y.o. grandson and I have a little chant:
Red sky at night -shepherd's pie.
Red sky in the morning - lasagne!
I think it was fish & chips today.
