Perhaps they could get Tom Hardy to read this out on Jackanory

Tom Harwood is more likely to turn up.

He’s hardly doing a good job of making the story go away. I feel one of those comedy theatre hooks is about to appear and drag him off...

Not Peston then...

If the next obsequious reporter is his actual wife I wouldn't be surprised.

So has he answered the question had he SEEN his parents which I think Peston was getting at-waved over a fence or something similar? Or did I miss it

Again, the ‘anger’ of the public is because of ‘media reporting’.

—-
I’ve seen some of the media over the last couple of days, and I’m not surprised that a lot of people are very angry.

I hope and think that today, when I’ve actually explained all the circumstances about it, I think people realise this is a very complicated, tricky situation.
—-

I can’t see that he’s added to put explained anything that was already in the news. He simply doesn’t get the sacrifices people have been making in far more challenging and complicated circumstances than his.

People haven’t been able to see their dying children ffs...

Bridgen (asshole) was right about one thing, though.

I am surprised.

Jesus wept.

Mind you, that's my excuse for cheeky riding sewn up.

"Sorry, I was only riding to test my eyesight, and it turns out that my eyesight is so affected I must have missed your 'no cycling' signs".

Every cloud has a silver lining.

The other being that if there is more evidence being held back it increases the chances of him taking Johnson down too.

Now, barbecue. And planning a riding trip, I've got a 250 mile radius to play with and my own interpretation of the rules.

No limits.

What's everyone else who's had Covid with a young child done about childcare when they couldn't let anyone else in their house? Looked after them themselves? Let the kid scrabble around the house fending for itself for a week and hope it'll be alright?

What’s everyone else who’s had Covid with a young child done about childcare when they couldn’t let anyone else in their house?

Have you read Cummings and his wife’s previously published accounts of how they dealt with this themselves? Much like that I suspect. And he still maintains that no outside help occurred, and no one else helped look after their child in the house they traveled to, or back in London after they traveled back.

That last statement is pretty damning:

What's the safest thing for me.
What's the safest thing for my child.
What's the possibility of me getting back to work.

Nothing about other people - which the rules are in place to protect.

Not sure if safe to drive, so drive 30 miles with your wife and child in the car.

Lots of woolly deflection BS about his "interpretation" of the guidelines, but the "eye test" is a special piece of nonsense. He's suggesting his eyesight was wonky, he didn't feel great and thought he might be a danger to other people on the road, so he decided to go for a random test drive for an hour.

According to wikapedia his wife's birthday is the 12th of April, same day he went to Bernard Castle!

Does anyone have access to ancestry.com to see when his mother or fathers birthday is?

How do you rate the media interviewing Cummings?

Rating the press out of 5 please.

1. Laura Kuenssberg knew exactly well there are nothing much to ask. (5/5) 👍

2. Robert Peston is struggling with digesting and twisting the details to ask "difficult" questions that sounds meaningful (3/5) ... 🤣

3. Obviously the second reporter is trying a different tactic by giving her own statement rather than asking meaningless questions and trying to link the questions to PM. 3rd grade press standard reporting and not even in the big league (2/5) 😂

4. Gary Gibbon is now using the interrupting tactic, Channel 4 tactics, to dislodge Cummings and by trying to put words in his mouth and by using the typical approach of "telling" the interviewees their views. This is an advance tactic (4/5). 😄

5. The next report ... no, no, no ... this reporter bloke is trying all the approaches trying to sound credible and by presenting his view/statement more than listening or interviewing. You are hitting above your pay grade as a reporter. Poor reporting. You might as well write your own story (1/5). 🙄

6. Ok now the next report ... starting with asking miles between the house. Using the word "stupid" and trying to pick details. Amateur at best in reporting. Journalism degree course has certainly gone down in standard. I blame inflated grade? Why ask the obvious question about "regret"? This should be a failed grade in reporting. (1/5)🙄

7. Nicola the next reporter - Medical advice questions. (they are gang-banging Cummings from all direction now). Asking "closed-ish" questions with no room for probing for more reasons. Shoot herself in her own foot and finally provided her own statement rather than interview then trying to pick the details. Another fail. (1/5) 🙄

8. Matt - started with saying Cummings was not honest ... this reported has started with an assumption and prejudged Cummings, then struggle with asking "closed" questions. Cummings has thrown him some bones to chew on to help him out. (0/5) I am embarrassed for his reporting skills. 😬

9. Kathleen next - Crikey, using a note pad (clue in note pad being amateurish) ... started with statement then followed up with closed question. Reporting standard is definitely poor. Cummings could easily just answered yes or no answer. Also borrowing other reporters question which only indicates lazy preparation. Then final parting question is about voters ... (0/5)😬

10. Open to the floor of reporters - waste of time as they are now repeating and just putting their words into his mouth. More statements than interview. A fail whoever the reporter is. (0/5) 🙄

11. Robert (same Robert) - now started to formulate his own statement and putting his own statement forward more than asking question. Now showing desperation and started to interrupt. 🤣(1/5 <- downgraded his score)

Crikey why gave the reporters chairs to sit on? Too comfortable.

Well done Cummings! He is good and very calm. Right person for Brexit advice. 👍 😀

Why has none of them asked, why wasnt it safe for your child in London.

Yes, he even appeared to backtrack during the press conference on how ill his wife was. If that's true, neither of them were incapacitated with Covid (or even showing proper symptons?) yet he had to flee London in a hurry because he had no other options.

Suggesting he had to hide out in Co. Durham because he was being threatened is another revealingly crap excuse. None of it really stood up, and the fact that some of the justifications were so obviously invented for the press conference won't help him.
