I've never bought a hob before but we want to get a new one that heats up fast, any suggestions at all?

Induction. That is all.
You may need to buy some new pans as well though.

As above. Check your pans with a magnet, if they're magnetic they'll work with an induction hob. If not, budget for new saucepans as well.
