Flying Gatwick to Newquay on Sunday morning. Flight is at 9.25 ,we only have hand luggage and have already checked in.
What is the latest we can safely arrive at the airport?

To be certain, 2 hours before, and if through quick you'll have plenty of time for breakfast.

Obviously arriving that early means it'd probably be quicker to drive...

All airport specific, for example, I regularly fly out of Glasgow at 0705/0715 and park at 0615, security at 0625, but its a small airport. I have on a few occasions cut it a bit fine...

Two hours? For a domestic flight? You've fallen into the airport trap; they want you there 2-3 hours before because they can then be certain that you will feel lke spending money on a drink or a meal, the greedy robbing tossers.

If you've already checked in and got your boarding card then an hour at gatwick will be fine, this time of year the secuirty queue isn't that long and you should breeze through.

When you're done with security follow the signs for lifts to departures, then follow the passage way, this brings you out upstairs instead of having to go back downstairs and through the maze like "duty free supermarket"

Go on then I will ask. Why flying from Gatwick to Newquay? Ie if you turn up 2hrs before you could walk there quicker

When I used to fly Leeds to Heathrow, just turned up about 40 mins before.

Having spent 90 mins clearing security in a couple of UK airports I leave enough time. Just because the temptation is there doesn't mean you need it.

At heathrow the don't let you through security less than 45 mins before departure, I normally aim for an hour as I have missed the cut off by a few minutes and ended up on the train!
