There this weekend for first time in years on a boys biking weekend.

We like curry. Is the curry house a safe bet these days or likely to cause grief on Cadair Idris on Sunday? 😉 If no good, where else is good to eat there these days?

Getting "noshed" on a lads' weekend means something entirely different if you are from my neck of the woods.

Oh don’t you worry - I’m well aware of the other meaning of a nice nosh. Good to hear the curry house is good...think we’ll go for it.

Last time we went there 2 years ago we went to the Lemon Grass for a curry. It was terrible. It might have improved, or have new owners since then, but if not avoid it.

There were 12 of us sat on 2 adjoining tables. After 20mins they appeared to take the drinks order for 1 table but refused to take the order for table 2 - despite the fact it was exactly the same as table 1, and we were supposed to be one party together (and had booked in advance). Another 20mins before they appeared with the drinks at which time they took the drinks order for table 2. Another 20mins or so to fetch these, by which time table 1 are ready to order more drinks but he'll now only take a food order - no drinks - and only for table 1, leaving table 2 still not having ordered any food. This went on all night.

We later saw the waiter sneak into the kitchen carrying a bag full of cans of Fosters, where we hear the sounds of said cans being opened and poured before we are then presented with our pints of "draught Kingfisher".

When we finally got some very average food, and the bill, we found they have over-charged us, charged us for food that never appeared and expected a hefty tip.

However, the Mawddach Restaurant, a mile or two outside of town was lovely. Not a curry, and not cheap nosh, but great food and great service.

We went last year. The tapas place was good. We also ate at the Royal Ship Hotel. It was pub grub.

I think you’re doing them a disservice there. They actually just drank the Fosters and pissed in your pint glasses.

The Royal Ship is very good pub food and some nice ales on. We also ate at a tapas place in July, which had the most incredible dessert display. I think it was called Tafarn y Gader? It was tasty 🙂
