I'm looking after a neighbour's dog for a week. Though he's well behaved for a JRC, I wonder what I can do to persuade him to lay his dog eggs in the garden and not squat in public during his walks.
And today he's taken to repeatedly humping his sleeping pad despite having had The Operation. Is he missing his family? Because he seemed to be settling in well.
Photos or it didn't happen
Its pretty hard to teach your neighbours dog where to shit.
As for humping I dont know whether he normally humps - do you
I think you are over thinking this so be grateful it has not pissed on your floor 😉
If he is missing his pack he may howl all night, don't worry though is only a night time thing and should stop at first light.
He may think the family or his pack, as he sees it, has gone and immediately try to form a new pack which is part of the humping, demonstrating how virile he is. If that is the case he will challenge everything you do and say until a new pack hierarchy is established.
If you are minding him in your house he will have to establish a territory which basically means pissing on absolutely everything.
Not a problem though as the pack harmony will sort itself out in his head eventually but you need to stand up to him so he doesn't become pack leader.
Good luck.
What's a JRC?
If you've only got him for a week I don't think you're going to change him. Damage limitation is the key here. Buy some poo bags and don't worry about the bed-humping. It's not hurting anyone/anything.
Jack Russell Cross?
.....and what KoN said - it's only a week!
