I have stove (lit and hot) and dog, however dog does not like to lie anywhere near fire and actively seeks somewhere she (8 year old bearded collie with a severe haircut) can feel a nice cool draught. Even on the coldest of frosty nights she objects to being made to stay in the main body of the house rather than her normal bedroom in the unheated porch type extension on the north side of the house. Weird.

Did you choose the cat to match the rug or the rug to match the cat? 🙂

I have a dog like Muckers, mine never goes near the fire, he keeps as far away from it as possible. He likes to be near me though but keeps close to the sofa away from the fire.

My cat on the other hand is the opposite and doesn't even move when we open the stove to reload it.

Some of you live in some really nice places!

I hate the sh*thole we live in, but at least we have two lovely cats...

Must sort out a nicer house, but it will cost loads 🙂

Same here - can't beat a bit of feline company in the evening, both of ours sat in with us now round the fire.

Not my dogs but a mates (2 of 5) Monty & Dexter lying in front of the fire, they're both "spointers', crossed between "Lennon" a german pointer father and "Thistle" a spaniel mother.

[img] [/img]

This is how Dexter sits at the table, he doesn't lie on the floor like other dogs,

[img] [/img]

And Monty does a mean Jack Nicholson "Here's Johnny" impression,

My old Staffy used to sit in front of the fire until he was panting he would get so hot. Then he would go and lie on the tiles in the hallway until he cooled down a bit. Then repeat the process all night. Loved the fire.

Pigface - 1 of my westies does exactly the same thing. Bakes himself until he can't cope and then finds the coldest spot to cool down and comes back again.
Cracks me up everytime!

Top cat, can hear me crumpling the newspaper to get the fire started and will sit infront of the fire stopping me light it, but securing her place in front of the fire!

Our dogs love the stove!

Molly's (RIP 😥 ) favourite spot:

[IMG] [/IMG]

Oscar (RIP 😥 ) approx 2 months before he went to doggy heaven. He was our first dog and all of our other dogs have to compare to him. He was just lush:

[IMG] [/IMG]

2011 was a crap year for dogs in our house, loosing both Molly and Oscar.

But, we now have.............

Mabel. Here she is at 2 months old:

[IMG] [/IMG]

Mabel thinking, I can get under there!

[IMG] [/IMG]

See!! I told you I'd fit:

[IMG] [/IMG]

6 months old:

[IMG] [/IMG]

Archie arrived, adopted from a colleague nearly 2 months ago. He loves the stove too:

[IMG] [/IMG]

Finally, Mabel and Archie last Tuesday, the after having family-planning surgery at the vets 🙁

Top marks to ScottChegg, go straight to the top of the class. 😀

oneoneorange : Nah, the suit of armour is in the hallway and it certainly ain't female - not if the size of the codpiece is anything to go by 😉 , The small statue is a publicity item made for the original Fritz Lang film and is modelled on the main female protagonist "Maria" or rather her robot double in the film, it's cast in solid bronze with a dull/metallic finish and weighs an absolute ton, utterly impossible to move unless you have a hydraulic sack trolley and even then it's a hernia accident waiting to happen.

More doggy pics,

This is "Lennon", german pointer father of pups as posted earlier, and yeah - he was named after John Lennon

[img] [/img]

This is Thistle, mother of pups exhibiting the sort of behaviour that got her "pupped" in the first place

[img] [/img]

This is all 7 of the pups in the kitchen, they only kept two, all the others went to their relatively close neighbours

[img] [/img]

This is Dexter, one of the pups that was kept.

[img] [/img]

I've got literally hundreds of pics of all 5 dogs, there's "Magick - Spaniel", "Thistle - Spaniel", "Lennon - German Pointer", "Monty - Spointer" and "Dexter - Spointer"

This is my dog, (kind of,) he's an ex gf's but we both look after him.

The day we drove to collect him (toby)

[img] [/img]

Toby now, 5 yrs old, a Jack Russell/Collie/Small Bullock cross breed who loves bike runs but with 4" long legs he can't run very far.

I wish we did live here, but was a cottage we rented by Coed Y Brennin for a week in september - any fire place I see now just doesn't quite cut the mustard. I could stand up inside it and I'm 6'4".

My OH is self employed and works from home, she had to work in the mornings during the week we had off. So took desktop, monitor etc hardwired into router and worked fine.

Sorry for spoiling the party here.

I have been watching this thread and couldn't bring myself to post a picture. We lost our nearly 16 year old dog yesterday. The house felt empty as she was always there in front of the fire (when not pestering for food).

Anyway our five year old daughter drew a picture of Belle and put it in front of the fire where she lay.

I was doing well at work until I wrote this

We have just found out that our next door neighbours came home with four border collie pups last night. The farmers dog passed away and they are only two days old. They are being bottle fed around the clock. It is a very tricky time for those pups but I can see which way this is headed.
