I was out walking today in the Rhondda and passed this dog being walked, who needs adoption and is at the Hope Rescue centre in South Wales, where I think she was born as her mum (Kitty) is resident there and is also in need of adoption.

What a looker, the photos don't do justice. Mum was a Belgian Malinois and dad was probably a Staffordshire bull terrier they had had visiting, she certainly looked like that could have been the case.

Kitty

I've got a couple of cats plus my girlfriends Maltese to look after whilst she is away, so no-go for me, but was severely tempted to enquire about adoption.

Looked like she couold be a great trail dog...

You have to go on attitude of the dog, rather than looks... if it's got some (cough) staffie in it, it might be a bit of a handfull.

Ha! I thought a Galloway Terrier was a genuine breed! 🤣 Idiot. (You or me, not Geoff).

Not sure Kitty as a name suits that hound, but she's lovely looking.

if it’s got some (cough) staffie in it, it might be a bit of a handfull.

Probably young enough to be trainable, and if she's been in a home all her life I'd hope the staff have been at least doing the basics.

She looks beautiful. A staffie cross Malinois is not however a dog to take on lightly. Both parents can have a high energy. I’m sure the home will find the owner with the time and expertise for such a beaut

That's just a polite way of saying they might rip your childs face off.

Yay dog pics... Great set of ears on those dogs.

Lola is part Pork Retriever and part Pizzahund with as squirrel tail stuck on.

Came to us at 7 with some issues but we're getting there!

No regrets getting this rescue dog .

I'll be honest, that was my first thought.

Rescues are the best though.

In that combination the Staffie is the least of the concerns 😂

Although the fact they put a Mal and a Staffy in a room together and neither died probably says they temperament's weren't too bad. Because staffies have a reputation of being bread as fighting dogs, whereas Mal's are just Velociraptors on meth. And at least Mal x anything, is at least slightly less Mal!

Even having failed to re-home a Rottweiler x Akita (awesome cuddles at home, psychopath in public) I still have an itch to scratch and want a Mal 🤷‍♂️ if you could convince it not to chase and kill anything that runs it'd make a great trail hound.

Did she supply the donor squirrel?

Way to much dog for anyone without experience of both breeds.  Ive had a staffie and even i wouldnt go near that dog.  Absolutely the kind of dog to fall into the wrong hands and have a terrible life.  I absolutely love dogs and have been around them all my life.  I couldnt imagine being able to cope with that dog.

Unfortunately its going to have to be extremely lucky to get the right owner who could make it the most amazing dog

Is that not ages old and not true anymore:

"The Stafford is considered a family pet and companion dog, and is among the breeds recommended by the KC for families.[7][41] Relative to the breed's ancestral progenitors, the AKC states: "From his brawling past, the muscular but agile Staffordshire Bull Terrier retains the traits of courage and tenacity. Happily, good breeding transformed this former gladiator into a mild, playful companion with a special feel for kids."[16]"

She wishes. What she does is see a squirrel, stick her head in the air, fluff her tail up to it's curliest then trots noisily up to the base of the tree and just stares.

Which is good because they're all red round here and I would be devastated.

I did say the Staffie was the not "a Velociraptor on meth" half of the cross.

For the special forces with a team of people who eat, sleep and breath training and working them all day every day, they're great dogs.

I'd love a Staffie, I'd also love to have a Mal. But the Mal is a bad idea like owning a grenade launcher is not the same as pinking some cans with an air rifle.

I just hope the kennel are extremely conscientious about who they let adopt that dog and don't just give it to the first person who turns up and says "oh look at those lovely cute ears"

A dog that can work out the best way to apply its enhanced bite strength. One would need a "we'll prosecute what's left after the dog stops intruders" sign.

Having read the Kennels blurb about her I think they are well aware of the need to find the right owner for this girl. I hope she finds them soon.

It’s not the staffy but the Mal that gives the most drive. Great dogs if given a job and a purpose but can be a nightmare without training. I’m scared they may end up as the next replacement for the XL bullies.

Lola would jump out the plane without the parachute if a slice of ham was involved.

Malinois are amazing animals.  Last year I fostered two Malinois puppies from about 8 weeks old until they were 3 months old, until they found their forever homes  Just before COVID I had another young Malinois puppy (called Ruby) and she was adopted by a young local lady.  I still meet Ruby on my walks every few weeks and she gives me a lovely greeting.

I remember one man telling me that some dogs will scale you back garden wall to escape, a Malinois will scale your house to escape 🙂

She was being walked by a 60 year old lady (who was in good shape, to be fair) who was also walking a Husky at the same time. She did say that Kitty was a bit of mad though.

Not that I am contemplating adopting her, I have enough trouble with my girlfriends Maltese and certainly not enough experience for a dog like that. Plus I have two bite-sized British Shorthair cats at home.

For Bodie all I'd do is say the magic word "Squirrel" and point!

Kitty has been reserved !

For her forever home, or at least until they figure out that she’s too much for them to handle…

Adoption homes are pretty good at weeding out folk who aren't really committed, when we adopted our dog there were a few interested, but by the sounds of it, a lot of dreamers who hadn't really planned for a dog in their lives.
