I am looking after two black labs for a week, starting yesterday. One of them took a dump this morning, and it was green. Like this:

Not sure what their recent diet might have been as only picked them up yesterday, but if the next one is also green, is it owt to worry about?

Possibly related might be the poisonous farts one of them keep releasing in the living room. Haven't pinpointed whether it's same dog yet, which might point towards some sort of intestinal issues. Do dogs normally fart?

This afternoon one of them tried to eat a dead rabbit, which must have been dead for at least a month. Don't think it got too much of it, but I guess I will know sooner or later.

Is there anything I can do to make them less licky? I have washed my hands about two dozen times today.

When the farts happen do the dogs look guilty?

If not then it's the missus using the dogs as an excuse to let rip. 😯

A (black) lab will eat anything, that is even faintly 'organic'...

I've never felt the urge to lick a turd.

If it happens regular over the next few days probably a sign of gasterial infection, if the dog is comfortable and lively probably nothing to worry about.

Dogs fart and they really do stink, changing diet can help. Ours came to use eating Chum, we dropped it as he farted for the Olympics. He's now on Iams and unless he's been pinching scraps then he rarely farts.

Edit: Just seen their Labs, like said above Labs eat anything and everything they have no bounds they don't know when to stop. There's an old saying "Nowt greedier than Lab pup" it's very true. And because of this they produce farts that are banned for use in warfare.

All normal behaviour. Wait till they throw up on your carpets or jump on the bed with muddy bellies.

After watching the dog chasing mountain biker video I fancied getting one - now I remember why I didn't want one in the first place 🙂

It's strange how our spaniel waits for a frosty morning before going and eating his turds, must enjoy the extra crunch 😯

Wait 'til they get a fright and empty their anal glands!

You haven't been reading aloud Hora's posts on the girlfriend thread have you?!

As long as they're drinking they probably will get over it.

Diet isn't the only thing that makes a dog fart. Eating too fast can cause wind.

Mine just has huge burps after eating as he eats too fast, he's a Border Terrier but he burps as loud as me.

Black Lab = mental. They are lovely dogs but will eat anything. My late grans lab once ate a biro and had a blue tongue for weeks. God only knows what came out of the back end...

Labradors are vile. Mine has eaten human turds, a frog, some of a dead deer, lollipop sticks, crayons, a bra and a whole host of horrible things. None of which has killed her yet.

if the green poo, the farting and the vomiting is all from one dog there might be an issue.

does it appear any less happy than the 'healthy' one?

usually you will see when a dog is not well, as above if still eating, drinking and bouncing around its not likely to be too bad.

My dog likes horse poo if it's fresh. That's pretty horrible to clean up if she vomits afterwards

My departed Golden Retriever would eat anything including human poo that people kindly left in the woods, along with the remains of their picnics. 😯

Horse poo was another, she rolled in fox poo, decomposed hedgehog, cow pats. Dear me!

Labs are the same I'm afraid. Some tinned food can be too rich, Chappie is a good one for delicate tummies - just a mixture of chicken and rice.

Is there any blood?

No blood, and seems fairly happy overall. They only have dried food, and apparently they vom fairly regularly if they've eaten something they've found (this was not mentioned in the Dog Manual which accompanied said dogs on Tuesday morning).

Sounds to me like they've been eating grass, some people think they eat it cos they want to vomit not true that's just a side effect. They eat it because it contains vitamins that they need in there diet. Obviously what goes in must come out. Our lab ate grass non stop in the spring and all of the wife's hostas, runner beans, cabbages, lettuce in fact half the veg patch! She was so annoying but I miss her every day.

Feeding dogs dried food is cruel, in my book. I used to microwave pet mince - she loved it! All animal bits were in there. 😯

Apologies for suggesting this but its rear end may appreciate a wash with warm water.
