I'm trying to get a runabout for work n'that and i spotted the perfect car, one that i've always wanted and its an estate for the dog and bikes etc.....but this puts me off a little

"As i have recently bought the car i dont yet have the full V5 but i do have the blank new owners slip which i will give to the buyer and as soon as i receive the V5 i will fill it in and send it off as soon the on as it arrives. Please do not letthis put you off buying the car!"

I know everyone is not a scumbag, but on the other hand should i run a mile?

Plausible as it does take some time but then again why is he selling it on so quickly also springs to mind?

I wouldn't touch it until he had the full V5. If you did go ahead, basically the car is technically still his but you would have possession of it and be X amount of money down: to risky for me.

The registered keeper is not always the owner of the vehicle, if you buy it its yours, doesn't matter who's name is on the log book (assuming its HPI clear etc).
Sounds like he's either a dealer (in which case you could expect some warranty) or there is something not quite right about the car and he's trying to move it on quickly.
Either way, i wouldn't buy a car without a V5 either.

Might be a trade in from a dealer they cant sell through the forecourt due to age, value, ect. - If they want to give you a receipt marked sold for parts or sold as scene, then thats their get out.

Or it might be a total dog the guys trying to get rid of as he bought it and realised its rotten/knackered.

Have you asked the bloke why he;s selling? And do you trust the seller? If hteres a little voice telling you to walk away, then do so - the world is "full" of second hand cars.

If you buy it it is not yours if it can be proved it is stolen "you lose the car and your money" you could have all the right paper work but if it is a very good fake you will still "lose the car and your money" me HPI it first but they could get it wrong as you do not know how many times it has been past on since it was last legaly sold becouse the V5 is not avilable
IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE

walk away
