i worked my last day at my old job on friday. i got made redundant after almost 6 years due to the usual, company struggling a bit financially and having to slash the wage bill. thing is, i'm not particularly unhappy about this. well, not at all in fact.
i'd been half-arsedly looking for something new for a few months anyway, so this is the kick up the backside that i needed. got a decent payout for the time i was there, enough to last the rest of the year if need be anyway, but right now i'm looking forward to the possibility of a few weeks' riding and enjoying the summer we're allegedly going to have.
beyond that, anyone have any openings for IT support in the manchester/south lancs/west yorks area?!

How skilled are you with IT Security stuff? We have a number of positions coming up shortly for security analysts. Firewall management, AV policy, IDS, VPN's....that sort of stuff. Probably on call, possibly shifts. Juniper, Cisco, Checkpoint, linux all desirable. Won't be for a month or so yet and they're being advertised internally first so it may take a while for that process to complete but I don't expect we'll fill internally. Based in Warrington.

drop me your CV if you think you're suitable and we can talk some more.

xherbivorexm, what kind of support? Servers? Desktops, both?

If it's more server side and you have some Linux as well then I may be able to help.
