last night iwas having a wash , when i turned the taps off i could hear water dripping .
looking behind the pedastal and i can see water pissing off the waste pipe from the sink!!
so this morning i try and move the pedastal to get a closer look and can without taking up the lino.
so i take the lino up and the floor underneath is moldy, black and soaking!!(the flooring being green ply stuff)
Im guessing its been leaking for a bout a year and a half now as that when the plumber moved the bathroom round!
now my wife has said to try and dry the floor out and put the lino back down but i cant help feeling that the floor is ruined ??
if i claimed on my house insurance for this could it raise my premiums??
or should i just bite the bullet and do it all myself??
cheers
steve
It can and may well increase your premiums, but there is an upper limit of a 17% for any increase (or at least there used to be).
My question to you is - why have insurance and not use it?
my question would be why not speak with the plumber who did the job and didn't make good the connections?
I'd claim, thats what its for, it shouldn't put them up really, how long since you last claimed? how long have you been with your insurer? how much do you pay? whens your renewal?
Yes that is what insurance is for, but if the cost goes up you could find that you are paying back more than the repair. you could find just drying out with a dehumidifier is all it needs and the cost to hire is very little. If it had been leaking for any lenght of time you will have damp and mold all over the place
cheers showerman!! the boards were green when new but now they are black and moldy!! time for some new flooring me thinks!
