I attempt to. In maybe the last 5 years I've seriously not caught anything other than mackerel, and that's hardly a challenge.

Used to do sea fishing as a kid but not any more.

Still have all the gear packed away in a cupboard. Keep meaning to take it up again but I'm too lazy.

Aye, sea fishing here. Mind you haven't been out in a year except for a boat trip last August. Lots of Cod & Ling out there but very little being caught of the shores or piers.
i'll be taking the tackle to Scotland in May though.

If your'e too lazy to sit on a pier/beach/riverbank/lakeside all day then that IS pretty lazy!

I like my lure fishing for pike, river barbelling and a spot of fly fishing every now and again. Don't have the time to devote to it that I used to...

Bit of sea fishing from time to time, and a bit of fly chucking over the summer. Can't beat fresh caught mackerel or trout.

I used to be too into carp fishing.. obsessive even.. I still have an occasional night by the lake every couple of years or so..

I love winkling out a pike or two each winter and I'll have a bash at the local bass a couple of times per year..

As above I don't have the time or the inclination like I used to..

Used to do a lot of fly fishing when I lived in Wales. Don't do so much of it in Hampshire as the permits are ridiculously expensive

Grew up near a tributary of the Thames with loads of streams and small lakes. Loved fishing until the rave scene / teenage girls etc put paid to wholesome hobbies for a few years.

Loved freelining for chub on little rivers and catching big fat tench in the summer.

i go pike fishing a couple of times a year in sweden. it's utterly destroyed me for fishing in this country, so much so most of my gear gets left there

Oh yes... got back into when the boys were in thier teens and I kept all the gear. Only go 1/2 dozen times a year now, to the same private spot on the Derwent, but it brings back so many great memories. Normally bag a few Perch,Roach,Rudd,Grayling the odd jack pike and/or loads of gudgeon. Good times good times.

restricted to mainly holidays now (always try and get a cottage with its own lake!) but big carp are my target but without all these bite alarms etc. Can't beat watching a big carp 10ft from the bank with its tail waving in the air, snaffling all the corn you chucked in 30 minutes previously knowing that you're going to see that line resting in the surface tension start to wiggle in a minute. Its enough to make you put your bottle of beer down on the bank and prepare for a wrestle!

This. If I could afford a syndicate ticket on a good quiet lake I'd probably still be going, but the carp puddles just hold no appeal for me.

Used to fish to quite a high standard as a junior - national's etc, gave up for 8 years then started again on the open circuit, doing rather well locally but couldn't devote the time to getting to the standard on the bigger circuit where you don't loose money every week so packed up again.

Sold the big value items and built a new Nicolai 😀

Not as much as I'd like, but I still pay £20/year which lets me use a number of beats on the Isla, Ericht and Dean Water in Tayside. trout and grayling and some really nice riverbank

Carp Angler here (well was) but it destroyed my marriage as it got very addictive and preferred to spend spend most night on the bank in my bivvy rather than the comfort of the marital bed. Ironically when I left her I sold all my gear and got into mountain biking. Fishing was too time consuming, with mountain biking you can get a quick fix in a few hours instead of hours/days on the bank waiting for carp.

Saying that I would still give it a go if money/time were no object!

Thanks guys

What would you pay / be prepared to pay for a decent pike / tench lake daily / annually?

I'm also considering providing an exclusive boating offer on the lakes - again what would the going rate be? It's hoped to tie this in with an accommodation offer as well but still working on that one!

I pay £35 pa for a local private club lake complex of 6 lakes covering 10 acres, most I have ever paid is £180pa for the use of a streach of the Avon & the use of a Carp pool to myself! Which at the time was well worth the money.

Been looking for a decent Tench lake/pool to fish for a number of years, all the local Tench pools I used to fish have sadly been taken over by Carp.

So for me if it was reasonably local & a chilled place to fish/bivi up, I would be very interested TS.

Have mates that think nothing of spending £1000's in the search of big Carp her as well as in France.

ski - we are over here in Pembrokeshire South Wales - fishing is only permitted during daylight hours

Angling times ran a piece on the place I think it was last August if memory serves

You'd be very welcome to have a look

Any ideas on daily ticket prices?
