I bought an alpkit Kelvin titanium mug a couple of months ago. Had to send it back as the top kept popping off as soon as I put hot liquid, pretty pointless as an insulated mug.

So I sent it back as they said it must be faulty. Got a replacement a couple of weeks ago used it this week, Monday to Thursday it was fine, today the lid has started popping off again.

I like Alkpit but how hard can it be to make a mug with a lid that stays on?

Yes but I rarely use it with the lid. I'll try on Monday if I remember.

True fact: I've never actually tasted bucky, being brought up in Glasgow, going to uni in Paisley, then moving to Kilmarnock this is an amazing fact.

Or maybe I have an I just can't remember.

^^^^^ I 'had a bottle' at Uni - a distant memory now, but I do recall thinking it was actually alright 😛

Send it back, get a refund then go to your nearest Morrison's, check out the shelves where they have the flasks and look for their flip-top On-the-go travel flask. It'll cost you £3.99.
In fact buy a couple, then you can keep one clean for holding chilled water when it's hot, and the other for hot beverages.
Been using them for several years, broke one dropping it on the lid which split, but they're stainless steel, and keep hot drink hot for hours, be careful not to burn yourself if you use boiling water and take a big slurp after only an hour or so...
Blistered my lip!

Perhaps they have changed the mouldings as i have one of the original Kelvin mugs from the first batch and the lid still fits securely despite being used at least once per day.

And Buckfast is great, although to be fair we only used to drink it when we came in from a night of clubbing - our buckfast ritual used to involve a few bottles, one shot glass and two dice, whoever threw the highest score had to drink the shot glass and if you threw a double then it was two fills of the shot glass. We tried to introduce further variations using multiple throws and combinations but after a night out on MDMA followed by a few shots it becomes very fuzzy and soon descends into chaos.

Not had any for 5 years which is very probably a sensible grown up thing to do. 😉

What I don't understand is that it was fine for the first 4 uses, then this afternoon it was back to the popping lid scenario. When yuh look at the lid the seal is very narrow then the edge of the mug is chamfered so not sure it could ever be a tight fit.

I guess I'll be sending it back but surely loads of people must be doing that.

Just a thought but have you tried to refit/turn round the rubber seal in the lid?
