I keep feeling these urges to buy one for some reason. Quite a few times a day.

Will the boot be big enough for my scuba diving gear?

3200GTs are quite affordable.
To buy at least.
Expensive to run and service though.

Casio apparently. S/h slightly marked with bodily fluids and a little heat damaged.

Excellent OP and Wilbur's has beaten me to it!

More crass stuff from a premium brand. At least my diver friend has the courtesy to disappear of his own volition after a few seconds now. So less intrusive. Still way more than 1x a day.

It makes you wonder if these people actually know what is happening?

I saw the Maserati 424i on page 3 in the flesh a few weeks ago and it looked great!

Owner of the place told me they expected it to go for about £4k.

I almost offered him it there and then, but for the fact I didn't have the money or a matching Omega 🙂

my mate had the 3200GT.

He lent it to me for 3 days, for my honeymoon. What a car, incredibly fast, and very comfy. You don't need anymore power IMO. My mates servicing bills were sky high. As others have said, to buy not to bad, to run it's a lot of money. factor in 2 or 3k for a service, the same again for tyres...

I thought the same....all I've got to put in the boot are 25000 tudor watches 😉

Next pop up will be yachts for sure 😉

Coutts and Tiffany's are coming next week. Piaget the week after. Bentley have refused to comment.

At least we know the companies good, tax dodging investments, fashion watches and Italian sports cars. There must be some money reading this website.

I have a friend who got a Maserati and it's almost rusted completely away.

The badge has survived 🙂

CFH, I like them, never had the courage to pull the trigger though. German engineering quality wins every time for me.

Plenty of room in the boot of a GranTurismo for an MTB in a DuffBag (wheels off)

Bolleaux. I've just had the ad for the first time.

Lloyds: tick
Rubber man: tick
Crappy car: tick

Please **** off with these bloody stupid 'aspirational' ads... :-/

I'd have a Merek, stunning car, never seen a recent Maserati that looked nice.

I'm out.

I had a 4200 until the kids came along a couple of years ago. I regret deciding to selling it as they seem to be holding their value reasonably well now, and once the kids are a year or two older I'll seriously consider owning again.

I'd look at a GranSport or a GranTurismo (I personally think they don't look as good, but that's just me). The 4200 is also a great car without the premium associated with the GS, just lacks a few extra horses (not that you'd miss them at this end of the scale) and some cosmetic bits (the louder exhaust note in sport mode is a nice touch). I actually quite liked the more laid back approach of the 4200. If you're leaning towards a 3200 you really need to know what you're doing. There are a few known issues with the throttle body and the turbos can be temperamental - being earlier they do have more issues associated which the later cars had ironed out.

Whatever you go for get a professional pre-purchase inspection done - they'll come up with enough to offset the cost against the purchase price. The clutch is the big ticket item, and they don't last as long as you might hope. Make sure it's recent when you buy, and expect to have to replace it at least once during ownership.

In terms of general reliability, don't get too caught up with the reputation. I had mine for around 5 years and it was averagely reliable. One weird issue with the driver door not closing and I had to replace brake pads and disks towards the end, but other than fairly standard annual service type stuff. Parts are not cheap though, so go in with your eyes open.

If you're in the south east I can't recommend Grimaldi Engineering highly enough. Based in Essex, really lovely people out to help you with ownership not fleece you, and he knows his onions. http://www.grimaldiengineering.co.uk/

Scuba gear in the boot - don't know, I don't scuba dive, but it's not a bad size for a sports tourer. It does have back seats as well... I used to be able to get a full sus in a zipped canvas bag, including wheels (detached, of course!) on the back seat, so as long as you're taking steps to protect the upholstery that's always an option.

Feel free to PM me if you want more info.

I was going to comment seriously too as was looking briefly at the Granturismo but then realised what the thread was actually about.

Aha, presume that cfh can afford a Maserati because he doesn't seem to put his money where his mouth is... 😆

I had a good feeling this wasn't as straightforward as it seems (still haven't figured it out fully must admit), but who knows, someone may want to know at some stage so I went for it anyway!

I've driven a Gran Tourismo, very nice car, interior was stunning, but it was fun with the bonnet up playing spot the fiat parts, the washer filler cap is from a punto. They were always the thinking mans ferrari, quite a choice about for new mondeo money.

I love the way there's mostly a 'P' thread and a non-P thread going on here 🙂

Conversation with Madame whilst walking.

"That car sounds nice"
"It's a Maserati"
"Really! It looks really ordinary"

It was aimed at Hunta's quite detailed response. Didn't spot yours amongst all the people having fun in the spoof. 😀

CG, I'll let you know that I have very fond memories of Essex. Specifically a blonde from Hockley.

I think hunta wins best response to a spoof thread though!
