Does anyone else suffer from it? Is there a cure? I'm trying to type up some notes from a meeting from a few days ago, and I'm stumped by notes that seem to read "134 oats - Va'room Rocher and crabs".

dictaphone?

No, it's just the way I walk.

I've thought about it, but can be legal complications if you're recording other people.

Tell them you are recording from the start.

If god had meant us to write things he wouldn't have given us keyboards.

I pick up a pen so rarely these days I can scarcely write my own name.

I work in a path lab,  there are electronic test requesting systems available,  but we still receive hand-written requests.  The writing is truly awful,  mistakes are made all the time as a result of it and it's just down to laziness.  Use the systems available or print in block capitals!! It feels like such a cliche,  but doctors hand writing really is appalling, I dread to think how many clinical incidents have occurred over the years as a result.

It used to be my job to read peoples medical notes at hospitals all over the country.  It's just a case of "getting your eye-in" - often you have to hold the page a bit further away and squint a bit.

More to the point.... why are you typing up somebody else's notes?  If you're really stuck I would email him/her a picture and ask "wtf does this say?!"

They're my own notes! I'm thinking about getting one of these:

 or print in block capitals!!

I'm well aware of my handwriting shortfalls. Made a mental note after a similar thread to this to switch to block letters to make things clearer....

then I looked at my writing... "ahh - thats what I'm already doing"

Write up notes include the word  "unintelligible" when dealing with stuff you can't decipher, soon sorts them out IME
