So the "blue job" for Saturday was to cut down / dig out the dead tree in the front lawn, its about 1ft diameter, 8ft high and id already cut all the branches off so just the trunk.

It was all going so well untill I got to the tip and whilst dragging it to the timber pile i slipped, landed on my knee, and dropped the wretched thing on my knee pinning me down. On the highly scientific "i can just about lift a motorbike and this felt the same" scale the thing weighed about 150-200kg. Pretty much the entire VMO is bruised and there's a swelling the size of my kneecap on the other side.

36hours on and if anything the pain has gotten worse even if some of the swelling has gone down. I can put weight on it, but only stationary, stairs are a complete none starter.

Docs, A&E, or take two growacets and check back in the morning?

36 hours old sounds like a minor injuries or GP job.

I’m eating my breakfast.

It did resemble something between black pudding (bruise) and over done bacon (the scabby bits).

Blue job?

Anything heavy, smelly, high up or that would be construed as sexist if it was suggested that it was a women's job.

Baiscly everything.

Keep doing Rest Imobilise Cool Elevate, if it doesn't improve over the week then go to the gp.
"Blue job" just call me Bob 🤣

Try and see the GP, when they have no appointments go to A&E.

Also pics would help 😉

Tried that, and disappointingly it just looks like a fat blokes knee with a scabby bit, only looks wierd when you put them side by side and play spot the difference!

Not the knee, the garden.

We must judge you.

A&E because 1. You won’t get in at your GP.

2. It’s straight in to the pathway if you go to A&E rather than GP that will have you doing physio etc for weeks before finely putting you through for an MRI.

Of course Drac is right, but he’s also wrong

Our tip does not accept tree stumps.

Its your own fault for not being stw enough. You should have either burnt the the stump or made it into a coffee table.

If you can't bear weight on it at all today, I'd be down the minor injuries clinic for an assessment.

Rest Imobilise Cool Elevate

This is an interesting change to Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.

My chainsaw is blunt, takes too long to get through branches let alone the trunk and the sharpener from screwfix shattered. This whole sorry debacle calls into question my STW post-woke non-gender-sterotyping lumbarsexualness. I even shaved off my winter beard last week.

Clearly all this would have been avoided with some sort of expensive folding 2 person folding saw from an obscure Canadian or Nordic tool brand with matching bike mount. That and not shaving.

He’s still waiting in the emergency department as he’s been triaged to the back of the queue.

That's the root cause of your problem, Samson!

No doubt your GP will be stumped without access to Xrays/MRI scan and advise you to go to A & E anyway.Trauma injuries treatment is a specialist branch of medicine.

That’s good then, at least he has medical assessment and knows they don’t want to chop his leg off.

Trauma injuries treatment is a specialist branch of medicine.

Dr’s and Advance Practitioners can do knee injury assessments then refer for X-ray or MRI which don’t require an emergency department.

Buy a set of whittling knives and make a fancy crutch from the trunk. That would be peak STW, but only if you buy some ridiculously expensive whittling knives
