They will be the ones who roll out of Witherspoons on a Wednesday afternoon in to the all you can eat buffet next door and spend the rest of the day trying to stick chopsticks up their noses while spreading their food around the table/floor/ceiling before ending up face down in a gutter/toilet etc. Either that or they will be a candidate/henchman for the party. 🙄

I grew up in a small town with lots of racist farmers etc and there was an Indian restaurant that opened up - lots of people would go there but just be really unpleasant to the staff and make up lots of nasty rumours about the place. 🙄

If overt racism in itself isn't indicative of a low intelligence, then directing it towards someone who is about to serve or prepare your food must provide overwhelming evidence for the prosecution.

I have no interest in the nationality/racial make up of an average football team part because I just don't and partly because I have no interest in football. What I was trying to highlight (maybe too subtly for your befuddled little weekend mind!) is the irony in the same folks who rage against foreign workers taking British jobs, also standing on the terraces at the weekend shouting to the heavens about the glory of this week's hero, conveniently forgetting that normally they rile against any non UK citizen working in Britain.

A foreigner stole my job as a premiership footballer. I'm still pretty p!ssed about it.

I don't know whether to be glad i saw so many crosses of St George yesterday, or sad that almost all of them had the 3 lions badge (a French symbol at that!) on it. I find it a little sad that so many people cannot disassociate patriotism from a game of football.

convert, you are right i am indeed a tw*t, however, this does not alter the fact that your prejudice leads you to link racists to football fans, where there is no more of a link than there is to racists and doctors or racists and teachers. in any cross section of society you will find a prejudiced element, as you have so gracefully demonstrated.

there is no need for you to single out football fans many of whom have worked hard and campaigned to rid the game of racism through initiatives both on the terraces and at grass roots, recreational football level. hope that clears the issue up for you.

Not all BNP supporters are 'staunch fascists' but every one at the core certainly is. The rest just like to turn a blind eye (ha ha!! :lol:) to that aspect of the BNP & pretend it isn't really there or that the party have changed.
They may have managed to get the skinheads into suits & toned down their racialism but the National Socialist dogma is still at the heart of their existence.
I've personally seen too many BNP rallies/meetings where the audience is giving the nazi salute to be convinced otherwise.

Muddydwarf, your heradlic knowledge must be better than mine because a) I always thought that the 3 "lions" badge was an English adaptation of the 2 "lions" crest of Normandy and also that I've been labouring under the illusion that they were in fact heraldic leopards not "lions". I bow to your superior knowledge should you be correct ( I can't be arsed to interrogate wiki ).
As for any connection with football, I can't see anything wrong with attaching an emblem of national, social cohesion to the flag, please explain why it is such a bad thing ?

Nope. Maybe I'm a little hardened by my experience though.

I had the misfortune to live on Swan Lane, Coventry for a time next to the Stadium when Cov were still a prem team. My girlfriend at the time (she is black) had the misfortune of being on the way home a couple of times at the end of the match. The abuse she got as she was quietly walking along the street was disgusting. She had a bottle thrown at her once and a dog turd. She vividly remembered one with "Yorke" written on the back of his Man U shirt - she was also from Tobago.

You are right, there are racists in all walks of life, but from my experience the football fan orientated ones are pretty vocal.

convert racists also tend to be cowards. Expressing themselves within a group offers them safety.

Isn't that stereotyping though? I used to go to drum and bass raves back in the day, and only ever really had hassle from black gangs. So in my experience, black people have given me more trouble. I can't use that brush though, not only because it's not PC, it's also totally unfair.

I never said that ALL football fans are racists - that would be a stupid statement. Merely that the racists ones can be conveniently colour blind when it suits them. Which correlates well with the OP's original observation.

Trailmonkey - the 'lions' are supposed to be heraldic leopards, coming from the personal badge of the Duke of Normandy, William the Bastard. The third 'leopard was added by the Angevin king Henry II on his accession to the throne. Although called leopards in heraldy the badge used by the English FA is known colloquially as the 3 lions as you well know.
The use of the flag by beered-up, leering football 'fans' on their trips abroad to cause mayhem has the distinct effect of not making the use of the flag by such unpleasant to those of us who find the game uninspiring & the fans to be often pillocks.
It is not the prerogative of the English FA or the fans.

I personally would suspect that most people who would normally be deemed failures - those institutionalised ot the dole etc. would be Labour voters. I get the impression from their policy that the BNP would take a hard line on these people.

And why is 'British job for British workers" racist? It was used as a tag line by Labour too. British people aren't all white.

I live just outside Ilkeston, a hotbed for the BNP - their annual Red White and Blue Festival is held not far away.

The irony wasn't lost on me when we had 3 Indian restaurants, 1 indian takeaway and several Chinese places in the town.

Sorry, should have made it clear it was the BNP version of the slogan, but if the person needed a 4x4 then why buy a Jap 4x4 rather than an LR etc (except reliability, better fuel consumption etc), then make it clear that the person is such a patriot that they'll use stickers from an openly racist organisation to promote their beliefs!

On the curry point, I believe Griffin has said in the past that he quite likes curry, but that he has the recipes now so the indians can go home.
