Do you / can you fall asleep before your children do?
I don't know if this is an element of control freak coming though, but I just can't fall alseep before I know my children are all soundly snoring away. They're 8F,11F and 13M and the middle one especially can take what seems like forever to go to sleep. More so on a weekend.
But, if I'm knackered and want to go to sleep before they are I just can't do it. My wife, on the other hand, can just get in to bed and is out like a light even though they might still be wide awake.
For context we're talking about 9.30 - 10pm here.
It used to be to make sure all the lights were turned off etc but they're all on smart bulbs now and set up to go off at midnight if they fall asleep with them still on.
I'm really not looking forward to when they're older and not coming back from a night out until the early hours!
Not my kids but a pair of 18 year olds from NZ are staying with us. It seems strange to drop them in town for the start of their night out and then return home ready for bed. 10pm-11pm ish.
Yep, 9.30 most night. Daughter is 14 sonno doubt still looking at Tiktok, and son is 21 so who knows what he's up to 😂
14-year-old - definitely
10-year-old - now and then, especially if I'm laying next to him after storytime
17 and 16....I daren't go to bed before them (despite wanting to sometimes) as they'd leave ALL the lights on and doors unlocked.
When they were little and I read their nighttime story more often than not I'd fall asleep reading to them. Now they are 16, 15, 12 & 10 only the 16 year old is later in bed whether it's through the week or the weekend.
Mine are 20 (so he's on uni time) and daughter is 16.
She normally goes to bed and brings her phone down to charge by 10 in the week (we no longer insist, it's just habit, and she might still be reading when we go to bed but she's old enough to make her own choices now, and has been for a couple of years
22 year old and 19 year old - definitely. Son disappears at 10pm to visit mates, and comes back at 1 or 2 am (not drinking) but it's an issue mid week when he's 'working' in the morning - doesn't get up.
I normally fall asleep to the eldest shouting obscenities to has mates whilst playing CoD. He is 19 though 😆.
But yeah the 14 year old I make sure is in bed before I hit the sack, or he'd be up all night trying to finish YouTube on the TV. I expect he does the same with his phone in bed but hey ho, as long as he's up in time for school the next morning.
boys are 16 and 20. I am often awake before they are asleep....
13 and 15. Send them off to bed by 9:30 in the week. On Friday and Saturday they can do as they please in their rooms, so are often watching films when we turn in.
Yes but it all stacks up. I live constantly in a different time zone to my 9 and 12 year olds. I'm up at 4am and they're up anytime from 6.30am so makes complete sense that I zonk out way sooner. As long as you get the volume and quality of sleep then no worries.
