After seeing that Trump advisor Stephen Miller has only 31 and Paul Nutall of the UKIPs is only just turned 40, while Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson are about the same age Brad Pitt and Keanu Reeves, I wondered: do right-wing views age you?

Are there any youthful Tories or old-before-their-time socialists?

Do you read the Daily Mail and distrust foreign food?

Dunno about politics but Snooker might well do.

He's 15. Fortunately he's not a child refugee seeking entry to the UK (bringing it back to right wing politics)

It's the outpouring of fear, hate and bile that ages them, like how Palpatine changed in Revenge of the Sith.

Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.

Right-wingers, that is, not snooker players. I dread to think how old a right wing snooker player would look...

Maybe it's living with the aged looks that turn them right wing.

Losing your hair and having a beard age one, Brad Pitt often looks his age, don't know about Keanu Reeves dont see him at all. Stephen Miller looks pretty young to me, face has no lines.

Trump advisor Stephen Miller has only 31

How old did you think he looks? He doesn't look much more than 30 to me.

Are people allowing their political preferences affect their eyesight?

Caroline Lucas is 4 years shy of 60, she could easily pass for someone 10 years younger.

There is the cliche of "if you are not left wing in your 20's you have no heart and if you are not right wing in your 40's you have no brain"

Plenty of strong right wingers in their twenties and likewise plenty of life long lefty pensioners.

To be fair I thought she looked about that but because short hair and "trendy" clothes tend to make one look younger, I thought she was older - incorrectly it appears - she has also been around for yonks.

+1
Also, remember when looking at pictures of people in the public eye that they will almost certainly have been quite heavily made up and styled before appearing at public engagements or on tv.

What "trendy" clothes? I have never seen Caroline Lucas wearing clothes that weren't suitable for someone her age.

Here's a politician attempting to wear "trendy" clothes :

It is not a criticism - she dresses a bit younger than some of her fellow members, which isn't hard. Mrs May is fashionable by all accounts, but that is a bit of a tightrope as your collage suggests.

May's dress sense is bizarre - covering up something? Just not sure what...

Lucas is a great advice for a green living - she looks trememedous in a natural manner.

You mean dyeing her hair and wearing make-up?

Well of course not - I'm surprised more women don't try it.

You don't become right wing as you get older, you just hid it when you were younger...

I'm very confused - all I said was she has short hair and wore "trendy" clothes - I have since clarified what I meant by "trendy".

This is the key. It's not lefties dressing young, it's right wingers being born middle aged and progressing from there, with the joy sucked out of them and devoid of any aspiration to look/feel/sound contemporary. Only snag is most see this as a compliment rather than a slur so there's little point in making an issue of it.

Ernie your photo collection of Tory PMs is quite something, scary in fact. Is there something that you are not admitting here?

"Proper attire" can be somewhat subjective, a bit like like "trendy clothes".

Keanu Reeves is immortal according to a quick Google and the internet never lies. Being bald or bearded can sometimes make people look younger. Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top looks younger than he is, mainly because you can never see his face in order to judge his age. Yule Brinner looked younger than he was in his heyday too.

Back on track. Right wingers age quicker due to the fact they feed off misery, like those fake Nazgul things from the Potter films. Sucking the joy from the room has a price, that price is premature ageing.

Well I haven't admitted to using Google Images. I wasn't sure whether I needed to.

I think, given that right wing people are more inclined to ignore the advice of experts and people who know what they are talking about, they are more inclined to ignore all advice about how to live a healthy lifestyle. I'd bet alcoholism, obesity and smoking were much more common in UKIP voters than Green voters.

I'm enjoying becoming more liberal as I get older - I like doing the opposite of what I'm supposed to. Though it may just be that I've matured enough to realise what my values really are, and to discover empathy. I have to credit some of those on here for helping me along that road - or at least I realised which of those on here I preferred to be associated with.

What Toffs and Toughs?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toffs_and_Toughs

If you read 'boys in later life' it's quite sad what happened to the Toffs, in contrast the Toughs had longer/more fulfilling lives.

I think I'm becoming more liberal, mainly as I appreciate now, in the information age, how desperate the plight of many is.

I used to be a conservative voter until my mid 20's

They look frightfully smart, however a similarly attired adult could cause frustration if one were seated behind him at Lord's. I think I prefer the modern convention in this instance.

What's the matter with you?......you'd only need to ask him politely to remove his hat. If he didn't I'd gob on it.

Caroline Lucas' (in that photo) skin and neck in particular look way younger than her age. Forget the clothes it's all in the skin.

Left/right, or liberal/conservative needs to be broken down into two parts, socially and economically. As I get older I'm increasingly socially liberal and I understand some of the merits of capitalism, though I still think it's a done all wrong for the most part. A bit further left and right from a pretty left wing baseline.

Surely William Hague disproves the theory? Simultaneously looking like a throw back to the Victorian era whilst looking like a newly born baby??

That quote JoeG is very similar to this one, which fits better into the thread btw :

[img] [/img]

However both quotes are among the multitude of quotes which Churchill never said. Here's a few more :

http://www.winstonchurchill.org/resources/quotations/135-quotes-falsely-attributed

And here's a Top Tip : if you want to sound intelligent at a dinner party say to those you want to impress "wasn't it Churchill who once said" and then spurt out any old bollocks you can think of. No one will challenge you and it'll be assume that you are particularly well-informed. I have never tried it myself personally but I can't see how it could fail.

Yeah, much safer than quoting what the bell-end actually did say. Like advocating forced sterilization and sending mentally handicapped people to labour camps 😉
