We have two cats. Noticed today that one has a little grey tuft under her chin (she's tortoiseshell) and have also noticed a white patch on the older, tabby cat has been getting bigger.

Cats are approx. 9 and 11.

Just wondered whether it was age related, in the same way it happens to humans that don't discover Just For Men (or similar - other more feminine products are also available).

We have a black cat who was 7 a couple of months ago. He's already getting a few grey hairs.

Stressed cat? 😀

Grey isn't always age related. Mine kicked in about mid 20s!

My very limited understanding of how cats age, largely from reading online articles and my parents owning an awful lot of cats, is that they don't go grey in the same way as humans. Their colours tend to become duller and they do sometimes change colours to a degree but they don't go grey. Tabby cats obviously exist but different colours won't end up all being tabby in old age.

Stressed cat?

I very much doubt that. But then I did have to get rid of her ear mites last year, which she hated.

Thanks Lucky. 🙂

Two black cats here, both getting flecks of grey hair. Makes them look more mature and intelligent, suave and sophisticated. Just like me. Might be something to do with where they grow up. Where did you get your cats from? Ours spent a lot of time in the woods in Hertfordshire.

I'm always suspicious of cats with grey hairs. @doordonot: are you absolutely sure that the collar matches the cuffs?

@pimpmaster jazz. I knew a guy with an old cat once. Then he went for a ride on his cove. Which was nice.

For that reason, I had a smoking jacket bespoke tailored for my old boy.
