Do Amey repair private houses?

I know, waaay off topic.

We have a newish neighbour who has been getting work done on her house by Amey. Fitting external lights, some small landscaping, other electrical work. It was a private sale house, it is not defence accommodation and I can't work out how or why Amey are doing the work. Could it be government funded work of some sort, witness protection for example?

Just seems a bit weird. I'm not going to ask her, for reasons that are complicated

Cheers

some small landscaping,

Did they chop all the trees down in her garden?

No trees, but been moving wheelbarrows of soil around. The work itself isn't weird, just the fact that Amey are doing it.

I wondering if it might just be an Amey employee doing a second (cash) job, whilst using company van, tools and uniform.

This was my first thought.

Yeah, or the person who owns the house uses Amey at work & has asked for a 'favour'.

Why not ask the Amey chap if he'll trim your bush for cash in hand?

You would not want some of them in your house.
Probably family members

Yes, I've had them do some on a flat I own but it's part of a whole council block being upgraded. Insulation, windows, doors, electrics etc.

Maybe a shared equity purchase with a housing association who employ Amey to do their property maintenance?
