My railings outside my house need a fresh coat of paint. Do i paint them or spray them? What with? hammer rite or something else. Any advice to make this tedious looking job slightly more tolerable would be great.
Thanks

Paint them. Remember, the better the preparation, the longer the paint will stay on.

Smoothrite. Tough like hammerite but smooth 😀 Applied with a small roller

Dunno how well they work or what the finish is like but these look 'handy' for painting railings

This.

Wash to remove salt, grit blast 50µm profile SA2.5 (near white metal). Zinc rich primer, high build intermediate and a polysiloxane top coat. It'll be 25 years before they need doing again.

Or more sensibly as you are no painting a bridge have a look at the hammerite website as a generic guide.

Personally I'd brush it on after a bit of cleaning.
