I built an outdoor counter/sink/cupboard on my patio last year, and bought some louvered wooden doors to serve as the cupboard doors. I treated them and painted them, and they proceeded to last... 6 months.

I now have to replace the cupboard doors (which are an odd size), and am wondering what my indestructible options are.

I would prefer to use natural products if possible, but my experience of both wood and metal outside is that they don't stand the test of time. Is getting some uPVC door custom made my only option?

Is there a treatment for wood that would make it impervious to the elements?

Polished concrete. you say the doors are odd sizes but just use the old ones to form a mold in some sand with a thin plastic sheet over it, gently pour in the concrete. They don't need to be that think and you could re-enforce them with some lengths of wire

Pressure treated fencing timber would work, a decent fence lasts for years

My wooden front door has lasted 40 years, seems odd to me that your cupboard doors should only last 6 months.

The Mary Rose did ok. English Oak ftw.

Any treatment needs maintenance, though 6 months seems a bit on the lean side. What timber were they made from and what product did you apply and did you apply it well?

There still may be steps to take to protect them. Are they fully open to all weather?
