Just done some remedial work on the stairs. There's quite an expanse of wood, all gloss white, looking a bit shabby. I've painted the new wood I put in and while I had the brush in my hand I touched up a few chips. Only problem is the old paint has yellowed a bit as it does. The new bits are bright white. Really don't fancy painting the whole lot. I much prefer the slightly yellowed look. What other options are there? Live with the two tone look? Just suck it up and paint the lot? Try and mix some slightly yellowed white?

Buy yellowish paint.

Buy cigarettes/cigars/pipes for all the family and do all the usual living room things out in the hall for a few months. Maybe even get a deep fat frier for out there, too.

Meh ignore it. If it's anything like all the modern low-voc white gloss I've used in the last couple of years it'll go yellow / transparent in about a month.

use satinwood, or just paint it and don't give a shit about what it looks like!

TBH if I "don't give a shit about what it looks like" I probably wouldn't bother painting it. Certainly leaning towards the do nothing option and see how it settles.

Ugh! Gloss paint is so naff and it shows all the faults and blemishes! Rub it down and repaint it in satinwood.
