before I was blubbing...
Its been an emotional day so far 3 hrs sleep last night after finding out one of my oldest friends has the C...
Thats the third person this year other two longer with us but hopefully friends is curable.
Anyway back to DIY SOS sobering...
It is, isn't it?
One of my old instructor staff, 38, toddler and babe in arms had a stroke last year. One of the fittest, strongest people I know, now back up and running, but without full mobility on one side. Awful.
Thanks for making me turn over to this. It's formulaic clichéd stuff and it always makes the room dusty. Love to see how generous and selfless people can be.
Yep. Blubbing. Poor guy, great effort.
Considering what he has suffered the bloke they were helping seemed quite a remarkable person to have achieved so much in his recovery. Quite amazing.
I'm normally pretty stoic when it comes to this kind of thing but that family really touched me especially how emotional the father was but still retaining a sense of humour.
Very deserving bunch?
Just up the road from me and I was the same huge lump in my throat 100% made me proud of being from West Yorkshire. They did one a few years ago just down the road from me as I remembered them filming it for a family who's child needed lots of help and they were really struggling and they made the house perfect them and I had a lump in my throat towards the end but just as it was finishing they said the boy had died a few months after filming was so sad. Got nothing but praise for everyone that works on this program.
We need more programs like that. Yes they are a bit cheesy sometimes but if helping people out who desperately need it is cheesy then count me in. Way better than the "me me me" crap like X-factor et al. Need more programs about people helping other people out.
i always like it when you get to the end and the people are so grateful - but they are not grateful for the fancy TV's or designer goods they put in, they are just happy that they have a safe house that works for them.
I love the big burly builders trying to hold it together in the thank you speeches at the end.
People sometimes rant about the TV license fee - if DIY SOS was only program made I would still happily pay the £150 a year. It's fantastic.
Three mates worked on that one. They all have young children and said it put a lot into perspective.
