What is this mortar?  How do I get/make a similar colour and texture?  Various attempts with cement and sharp sand haven't come close.   I'm obviously missing something obvious.

Not seeing a picture but if the mortar is for brick or block bonding or pointing slabs then it should be soft sand not sharp. Wickes do mortar dyes which can be added to the dry mix to colour it

If it's the pointing you're trying to match then it looks like a brown soft sand to me.

If it’s the beading around the door frame, I bet it’s epoxy bound stuff. Got it on our patio doors. Seems to be a reasonable shortcut bodge instead of massive beads of silicone.
