Hi guys just wondering if any of you have tried diy Damp proof injection, if so which kits did you use, did it work, does it still works etc..
I would suggest dealing with the cause of the damp problem rather than injecting snake oil into its effect. Needs more details to offer any kind of advice.
Better to inject your own snake oil cheaply than pay someone a vast sum for the same.
Probably cure your covid too, depending where you inject it.
Far higher chance of curing your covid than sorting out whatever damp problem you have
They never work, don't ruin your house -
it's not my house, a customer has a damp problem and had a specialist company check it...he wasn't impressed with there prices which is basically rendering..but there is a small part which needs injecting..ive seen kits online from vari roofing suppliers just wondering if they work?
The company wanted to inject the wall with their own brand which is there company name...which I found a bit strange.
BUt it's got a good rep
Yeah, there's a lot of stuff online about rising damp not existing, I have to disagree. Put a brick in a bucket of water, take it out a day later and see how much water the brick has soaked up. I've been on a lot of sites with the plaster stripped off the brick/stonework and you can often the sthe coulour change between the wet and dry material a couple of feet up the wall. Whether injection is a cure who knows but companies usually tank the walls with a membrane as well.
Rendering and injection will only cover up the problem, not remove the source of it. ‘Rising damp’ is nearly always either condensation on a cold part of wall or penetrating damp from external ground being too high, leaky rainwater goods or perhaps broken drain. You can do a 2 day course to become a ‘damp specialist’ so wouldn’t necessarily trust everyone’s understanding of building physics.
Had it on an internal wall before. That bad it caused the screws on the radiator bracket to corrode....
Other issues where there too include no air bricks. I injected it and tanked it and re instated air bricks
Not sure which actually fixed it but it's been OK
Make sure your mortar is in good condition too
