I have several bare pine doors in my house looking to put a finish on them, 2 already were treated with Danish Oil a few years ago, i wanted to know if its possible to prime this surface and then paint over?
Alternatively what other finishes are available that are low maintenance and nearly keep the natural wood finish as i have found the danish oil finish has "yellowed" a bit and i am not too keen on that. Also would prefer not to paint the doors white as my other half is suggesting?
Help?
I put wax on all our doors and then used a brush on the end of a black & decker to polish them with.
You can get wax in different shades too and it lasts for ages.
You should be able to prime and paint. I would use an oil based primer and put on at least two coats as the danish oil is likely to seap through and turn your gloss yellow over time.
