On my local bike sales pages I’ve noticed that I see quite a lot of Forbidden frames for sale secondhand. It seems like a lot compared to the number that must be sold new (don’t think I’ve ever seen one on the trails).
There’s a fair few Commencal around too, although that doesn’t seem so strange given there are more of them in the first place.
So do the people that buy Forbidden bikes get bored easily or are they just crap?

They probably don't exist. High value to draw people in to a scamtastic bargain.
Also confirmation bias. You notice them more because you think there's more of them, and the same ones stay around unbought.

There are people who enjoy riding, and those who enjoy owning bikes. The latter flits from one shiny bit of bling to the next, as a magpie would.
A lot of us have a foot in both camps, mind.

Not really answering your question but...I am on 2 MTB buying/selling pages and when the news about Orange started spreading, more and more Orange bikes went up for sale. I don't recall seeing more than 2 or 3 for sale in the last few years up until that point but there must be a dozen advertised at the moment.

Friendface Marketplace seems to be absolutely full of these and similar with 100 miles or less on them
V1 druids? I found the v2 a _significant_ improvement (On a demo bike).
I’d imagine anyone buying into the #highpivotwitchcraft would be keen to be riding the latest as it seemed much more versatile.
Loads of Bromptons for sale in France, all but a few sellers fail the most basic scam tests.
Loads of people were selling geometrons after they stopped boing flavour of the month/ the hot new thing
Same for loads of hot new bikes.
I think there are some early adopters with deep pockets changing bikes every year.
There is a school of thought that if you sell your current model year bike the same year it’s released, you don’t actually lose that much year on year. Especially if you got a good deal/work in the trade etc
Friend does this with a not dissimilar leisure pursuit/sport. Buys a literal van load of kit every season at trade to teach on and have clients use and then sells it all off used at the end of the season at more than he paid for it. His business has the shiny latest kit which looks good for potential punters and the profit he makes shifting the kit on is equivalent to about a months earnings.
I suppose some people buy a Forbidden as a bit of an experiment... more different to their previous/other bike than other things on the market... they want to ride it for a year to see how they get on... this may mean a bit more turnover than for other bike brands? Seems an alien concept to those of us that try and get a decade out of a frame... but if I was loaded, I suspect it's something I'd do. Seeing what new (to me/you) bike ideas mean takes living with an example for many months... a demo is never going tell you what it can offer you in quite the same way, as you might be adapting to the difference for a few rides.

Probably scams.
But also the algorithm. If you're reading about Orange bikes, it'll show you adverts for them. And it doesn't show you all the posts/adverts from a group. So it could easily look like there's suddenly a lot of Orange bikes, but in reality it's just showing you those over Treks and Specializeds it might have shown you other weeks as you're not reading news stories about those so it assumes your not interested in them.
Actually haven’t even read anything about Orange it have seen some coming up for sale here - all very old ones.
The Forbidden sales aren’t scams though - legitimate history of sales etc. And I’ve never looked at them before either.

A mate does something similar with his motorbike suspension business.
Every year he buys the latest KTM 350 (legitimate R&D tax write off) sticks all the fruit on it and puts the OEM parts aside. When the next one comes out he swaps it all over again. Makes the bikes look brand new ... regardless of how much he's put through the motor.

Yeah running 2 completely different brakes i find properly weird... selling the bike with 2 different brakes, well that's just bonkers IMO... I don't think i've ever seen anyone do that.
Maybe, as mentioned, folks are buying the Forbiddens, thinking high pivots are great, but when they actually pedal them around, they realise there is a lot of drag etc.
A friend had a druid for a couple of months, before he realised the juice wasnt worth the squeeze.
Obviously, thats not the case for everyone, but i bet it plays a big part. And probably why the new Druid appears to be miles better than the previous.
And as for the 'dream builds'... if its a dream build, why are you selling it after 3 trail rides and owning it for a month. Seems a bit odd/someone doesnt know what bike they need to ride/build?!

Depends on what/where you read as to whether the drag actually comes at a price/consequence.. Many say that the 'feel' isn't representational of the actual amount of watts lost by the idlers. I don't know the answer.. but it's an interesting one as people like Trek are now using it on the Slash, which is also a pedally bike rather than 100% uplift.
i think high pivot isnt too bad these days, due to R&D going into them.
But early forbiddens had a high pivot (adds drag), plus a lower chain guide idler thing (adds drag). Plus any suspension platform inefficiencies. Not forgetting people thinking they need an Enduro bike to ride swinley.... Maybe a few owners realise its not the bike for them?
But yeah, the bikes with that setup do seem to be getting better, which is no bad thing.

Marketplace has some great stuff in Oz too to be fair. Jack Moir, Dean Lucas and Jared Graves (Richie Rude) sell their bikes regularly for example.

I see a larger amount of Spesh Enduros than anyone else. Usually the 27.5 version with the crossover-y top tube thing going on.
