Now I'm not one for wild allegations like this normally but the first sequence of this movie HAS to be drug-influenced. It was made in 1940 which I suspect coincides with intellectuals dabbling in things like mescaline as scientific curiosities and writing about them.
1940? how long have you been saving this troll for?
We only got the DVD the other week 🙂
Plus it's not a troll. I want to know if anyone else has seen and thought about it.
When was the book of this written?
well first time I saw it i was on acid so yes the thought crossed my mind.
I think however it is possible to be creative without drugs and think Disney was a fairly conservative place at the time and probably still is.
These kinds of drugs weren't far out man back then though. This was pre-beatnik generation. Of course it's possible to be creative without drugs but the visuals look a lot like what I've read about LSD and synaesthesia.
yes I agree but as you have read about it perhaps you could do a pastiche based on this knowledge.
LSD was not popular till well afer the 1940's in fact the film started production in 1937 and lsd was first made in 1938. Suppose they could have been on mescalin but seems dounbtful

(Although the review does not really go into detail on this particular aspect!)
