Switched to Discovery Plus TV app after GCN closed but it's terrible. Very slow to load, constantly crashes in first few minutes, seems to stabilize and then buffers like mad towards the end of 'cross races.

Is it just me, or is anyone else having issues? Shame, as the content is great.

That’s pretty much my experience of it via the LGTV app and iOS app, seems to be ok on a laptop though.

It's laggy through my Samsung TV App, but still watchable. But it zips along on my 4k Firestick though.

I've recently binned all my sky stuff and gone to just streaming. Discovery plus is a must for me, moto gp, prem rugby etc. Been flawless for me, watching it on samsung smart tv and fire sticks.

Very slow and I'm a bit surprised that the "best" picture quality isn't as good as TNT Sport via Sky.

Weird. I’ve had no problems on my LGTV or IPad. We do have fibre broadband though. Maybe that makes a difference?

No probs here on my Samsung. Good picture, no lagging, and I only get 25mb/s on a good day, usually 20 ish.

Think maybe it's an app issue with the LG TV. We've got fibre and have zero issues with any other streaming and the Discovery app seems to run just fine on my phone (android).

It's terrible on the Firestick that I use in the garage on an old Samsung TV too.

Disney+ is the only streaming service that I have an issue with on my Virgin 360 box.  Picture will go fuzzy quite a lot, especially on 4k films.   I have a 1gb line.

It's unusably bad on my LG tv, but works fine via a browser on my laptop. Fibre broadband, all other tv apps work fine in UHD.

Hmmm, maybe I'll try a Chromecast. I presume you can still cast from the phone app?

I’ve been working my way through the ‘Elvis’ episodes of Wheeler Dealers this holiday! 😃

Ed China was good, Ant even better but ‘Elvis’ is on another level of expertise. The knowledge that man has is incredible.

Works fine for me on a SkyQ and on computer browser / iPad app

I have to admit (with all due respect and love to gcn) I prefer the UI of discovery+. I never got on with GCN - I find D+ much easier to navigate to the races I want.

But this thread isn’t about that it’s about instability etc. Everyone I personally know that uses it (about 4 people) seem to be having no issues or complaints

I can’t see a Discovery+ app on LG Content Store. People mentioning LG are you talking native app or screen casting from somewhere else?

I'm on the Eurosport app on iPad which is the same feed. Works OK, no different to GCN+ other than having to figure out which of the two instances of each race to select (one has ads, the other doesn't). Also they annoyingly sometimes omit end of race interviews.

Mind you, I guess Eurosport will be the next feed to be axed.

The streams seem to work OK for me, but navigation around the app is pretty painful due to it loading content as you go (both Samsung native app and Google TV app).

The Discovery+ app and I are off to a bad start. The first bad sign was after installing it on AppleTV where it turns out some weapons-grade clown has rolled their own keyboard widget instead of using the platform widget like everyone else does. This means entering an email address and a 20-character password using the remote instead of copying and pasting from my password manager on my phone. The picture quality is fine, though the in-app navigation is pretty poor. GCN at least gave some basic details like when a race was held. Infuriatingly however my “cyclo-cross” viewing is now being interrupted with ad breaks followed by commentator announcements that I can avoid those as breaks by instead watching on Discovery+. I’m generally annoyed by unwanted changes, but I can’t see myself bothering beyond the the few months right now.

I was annoyed enough (and had a couple of minutes with muted ads on the TV) to investigate further. Here’s what the online support bot says, repeatedly, to a variety of queries about ads on cycling coverage:

All discovery+ plans have:
* ads during live TV
* a limited number of ads in the on-demand content (less than half the volume on live TV)

I’ve had two ad breaks so far in a replay of today’s X2O Badkamers men’s race.

I wouldn’t mind quite so much, but it also skipped race coverage in the recording to advertise to me gambling, cars as lifestyle, freemium giftware games, amongst other junk. At least Eurosport used to have Italian roadies frying Sidi shoe parts back in the day.

Unusable on my LGTV, the only app on the TV which is like it. Just bought a Chromecast which is much better and has allowed me to ditch the TV remote
