I've two policies with them and the van has gone up 25% , no budging them as they try to justify rising costs
Commercial policy doesn't have to match new customers offers unlike car insurance. I thought they were a wee bit better insurance company but just like all the rest
All the same, you are lucky it's only 25%. I'm dreading the renewal price on the 'kids' 12 year old Aygo.
Our renewal quote from Direct Line was almost double last year's premium for two cars. Shopped around and sorted cover with another insurer for pretty much the same as we paid last year. I phoned up to tell Direct Line I wouldn't be renewing with them because their quote was utterly ridiculous. The person on the other end of the phone sheepishly agreed with me, but they couldn't do anything about the price.
Just got my renewal quote (with Hastings) and it’s a 50% increase on last year. Talking to a mate yesterday and his has just gone up by the same amount. He’s managed to shop around and the best he can get is 25% up. I’ve a couple of weeks to try and find a better deal
Yes, our 2 car policy went up by 25%, shopped around but not a lot less available.
Both cars were with Direct Line who have been good over the years but went up a lot this year so moved both to LV for less that I paid with Direct Line last year.
That £200 helped a bit towards my house insurance going up to £2500 from just £1500 last year (tip - don't buy a thatched house)
Insurance on our Model 3 nearly doubled this year with DL.
Competitor quotes were similar with weird constraints (black box) or fewer benefits. Or they were just higher and WAY higher.
Rang to expect a few £ off but no change.
Still, cheaper than car insurance in the USA.
Mine with Flow (LV) went up by 25%, have shopped around and will be going with Aviva which is same price as Flow was last year.

Admiral tried to pretty much double mine (2 cars on their multicar). I got it for a bit cheaper than last year with two separate policies with Flow...insurance is a really weird market.
Same. They always used to do slight increases so I kept with them. Now they have done a massive hike so shopped around and got cheaper. Assume they are looking to reduce their numbers
worst is the AA. They offered to renew with a 60% increase. Went through the usual rigmarole of saying I’m leaving and got a quote for the same as last year
everyone is just trying to get away with as much as possible these days
Our house insurance policy with eSure went from £346 last year to an auto-renewal quote of £2387 this year. The person on the phone said (without giggling) that this was due to "changing weather patterns".
Nationwide did it for about the previous number, and don't fleece you if you pay monthly.
A year or two ago I ditched DL and went to Aviva. The renewal this year was only a few pounds more than last year unlike DL who hike the premium every year.
Does your vehicle manufacturer have any offerings?
Our Seat is insured with Seat. My initial reaction was "are you mad?" but on shopping around I couldn't find anything else even remotely close.
Mines up in November for the Viano, I've done a pre emptive compare the market and should be able to get for about what I paid last year. Will see what Adrian Flux come up with for a renewal first though.

...aaaand the insurer of Seat Insurance is.... UK Insurance. Which is the owner of Direct Line. What fun!
DL has a sneaky approach of increasing my premium every year for the past 4 years.
Let's see how much of an increment I am going to get this year because I am going to walk this time.
Hardly sneaky when they tell you what they charged you last year when they are giving you your renewal quote. Also you can just ring and ask them how your premiums have changed over previous years. I've found them to be very good. Particularly if you have a van for personal use they'll apply NCD earned on a car to van insurance and back again, which a lot of insurers won't.
Weird, DL have just renewed my van, in Bristol for 50% less than the previous years 🤷🏻
Wonder what I missed or will come back around...

Sneaky in the sense that nothing change in terms of my driving, parking location, car, condition etc but they just keep increasing every year. I put up with them because the increment is £50 to £80 every year and I had to "negotiate" with them to get it down a bit. Less hassle so let them have the £50 increment but I have to "negotiate" every year. It's up for renewal soon so I will give them a call in advance this time as I normally wait for them to send me the renewal quote (7 days before expiry date). My NCB is more than 11 years now so not sure why the premium is creeping up tbh.
For a 1.6 petrol 2005 Corolla with more than 11 years NCB my insurance premium is £300. While my colleague's Auris 2018 costs less than half to insure. Perhaps parking on the road and living in the area that is considered to have "high" crime might be the reason I don't know. Checking Police crime statistic my area is has "high" crime rate while colleague's location is practically zero crime. Somehow the system may just consider my area a high probability of insurance claim I guess.

This is the first time I have heard that renewal is 50% less. You must have done something right according to their system. I have Never ever get a reduction in my car insurance premium regardless of who I insured with. In the past when I was lucky the increment was only £30.
