I need some white, not too dry, wine to take to a dinner party. Nothing expensive, just enjoyable to drink.

Preferably available from Sainsburys or Majestic.

Any recommendations?

You get much better value in Aldi. The Italian chardonnay is nice and only £5.

Actually… someone once bought a bottle of Lambrini to a party Mrs Binners attended. Nobody would fess up to it, so they now all smuggle it around to each others houses and pop it in the fridge. Its been doing the rounds for years

For a quaffable white from Sainsbury, I like the House Wine Soave.

ransos said exactly what I was thinking - you could also get some of their silver label prosecco, £7.50ish if you want to go for sparkling

Sav Blanc - Vergelegen or the Ned (both are fairly decent examples of Sav Blanc)

Also inexpesnive but a litte more "creamy"

Paul Mas - Voignier
Bellingham "the Bernard Series" Chenin Blanc (the 2010 was superd - 2012 is still pretty good but if you can find a bottle of 2010 the get that instead)

At available at Majestic

There is an Aldi too, although I tend [try] to forget about it.

Viognier would be my choice to match your requirements -

After the 2nd bottle it doesn't really matter, does it?

Domaine Louis Moreau Chablis 1/3 off at Waitrose until 11/3
Looks like you made an effort

I just switch to Meths and add some blackcurrant cordial to make it look like Red wine.

Not any of that obvious supermarket crap that they all stock (mostly Australian) like Hardys, Jacobs Creek etc.

Of course the Majestic challenge is you'll need six bottles which is never a bad thing.

Most French Sav Blancs or Chablis will hit the nail on the head.

I like them both, but French sauvignon and white Burgundy taste very different...

Pinot Grigio is generally inoffensive.

2nd the Prosecco or a Cava for a bit of sparkle.

Personally I prefer Marlborough region NZ for SB, or Stellenbosch SA. French SB is very over rated.

Malborough SB is alcoholic gooseberry juice...most of it has no subtlety at all.
