Does anyone know of a source of dimmable led bulbs that don't buzz when they're running on a low setting?
We have side lamps in multiple rooms that you touch to turn on,, and we often run these on low, particularly in the children's rooms .
Only tried wilco and Sainsbury's so far, but I'm wondering if it's a "feature" or a fault?
Cheers

I've just had a hive heating system installed. I bought 3, 9w WiFi bulbs in black Friday sales that work off the same hub.
The hive is connected to Alexa. The bulbs go from 5% brightness to 100% in 10% incriments. Controlled by either wall switch, phone or Alexa. No buzzing, no fancy wiring and no dimmer switch required.
They were £12 each which isn't bad for 9w.
They are also programmable so my bedroom light now works as an alarm clock and security feature when I'm away.
Really pleased with the setup so far.
IKEA do great dimmable bulbs with a nifty controller. They dim well, dont get hot, buz or flicker.
Think they are called Tradfri...
I’ve got one fancy Philips one that dimms well without needing a specific led comparable dimmer. I think it’s specificaly a warmglow (or similar name) and it even gives out a more yellow/orange tint to its light at the lower settings.
+1 for the Philips dimmable bulbs. Have been renting for a few years so can't change wall switches and they work fine.
Cheap smart bulbs off Amazon they'll run off a standalone app too so Alexa isn't necessary.
Thanks all, .I'll look at the philips ones .
Wow. I have to say k had no idea you could get light bulbs you could control through your tablet, using voice control...
However, on discovering this, I'm now considering a Phillips hue bulb and switch for a room where the light switch is on the wrong wall.
But do the switch and bulb need to be constantly connected via WiFi through your home router? Or do they talk directly to each other?
Do you just need to switch from a leading edge to a trailing edge dimmer?
Do you just need to switch from a leading edge to a trailing edge dimmer?
I think it does depend on the bulb. We got some dimmable LED bulbs and I changed the 'normal' dimmer to the recommended one which does leading edge, trailing edge and something clever that I can't remember, and we still occasionally get flickering and the odd buzz every now and then. It's cured by changing the setting but it can be irritating.
Oh, and Screwfix bulbs, BTW.
The table-lamps don't have "dimmers". The lights are the ones you touch the base of to turn on/off and cycle through the settings, so they don't have any kind of switch. Hence the need for a dimmable bulb to cope with the 3 brightness settings these have. https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-kristy-touch-lamp-white/p153886
The main light with the switch in the wrong place isn't a dimmer either, but just needs the switch relocating. Hence the realisation that you can get wireless switches for smart bulbs could potentially save me (or more realistically an electrician) having to channel out a load of wall for some new wires.
"Do you just need to switch from a leading edge to a trailing edge dimmer?"
This is usually the problem.
