Right
I have just got back from 3 weeks away, where I have had to retune my freeview TV due to the switchover - not a problem, retuned ok, got all my channels back, but the reception is rubbish.
Before we went away, we only used the digital channels on the TV and they were perfect, now the channels have lots of pixels flashing up and the picture stalls.
Anyone have any suggestions to improve the signal - it can't be the aerial, as it worked perfectly a few weeks ago. Would a booster work? or will the signal strength improve onver the next few weeks?
Depends what stage you're at in your area's switchover. If you can still receive an analogue signal then your digital signal will not yet be at full strength until the analogue is switched off. Your reception should improve after the analogue switches off.
If the changeover is complete then something else could be amiss. Check your aerial is pointing towards the closest transmitter, but don't Rod Hull yourself obviously.
It could be the aerial.
Here our transmitter switched bands during one of the switchovers. If your aerial doesn't cover that band...

all the pixels are being sucked up by yr neighbours, innit
Its possible you had the aerial point at one transmitter that theyve now down-powered while they work on. Maybe you need to find another transmitter for a while.
keep an eye on here, or wait for ton (or is it trout? I can never remember) or uplink to pipe up.

(however)
AM radio masts round my way are DEFINITELY being turned down to force us all onto DAB
I'm fighting the man with a 20ft aerial on my mowtah
you might be recieving too much signal now.
if you are using a amp, try it turned down.
or buy a attenuator to lessen the signal.
I've had this before with my Humax PVR. They have an excellent uk based helpline which I called. Turns out just 'retuning' doesn't clear out the old channels you had stored. I followed their instructions to do a full reset to default settings, then did a manual retune using the details here:

Worked a treat - hope that helps!
I hope they leave one analogue test card on each mast to assist with aligning your aerial.
