If I bought something like this..

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pioneer-PDR-609-Compact-Disc-CD-Recorder-Player-Remote-/283123205593

Could I plug my iPad into it , put in a rewritable cd , record the music, then put cd in my computer and load to iTunes.

I know that you can get programmes that do it but I always end up with adverts for viagra and I’m shit on a computer.

This would also be just like making a compilation tape which is something I really miss. Having to listen all the way through a song ,rather than ticking a box and forgetting you ever heard it.

Yes, I know it’s stealing music but if the tunes were available to buy I would.

Is this to record stuff you currently have on the iPad? If so then headphone out on the iPad to an input on the recorder with the appropriate cable would allow you to record. But it would be far better to use a 3rd party application to copy the music files over to the PC. Someone else would have to recommend one though, I haven't used them. Oh and if the music is on your iPad you're just copying it aren't you, not stealing it?

Recording onto CD seems like a rather complicated and expensive way of doing this.

Much easier just to record onto a PC. Just plug a 3.5mm cable from the headphone socket on the iPad to the microphone/line in on your PC.

Then use some software to record. Audacity is good, it is free, no adverts. https://www.audacityteam.org/

Audacity can be complicated, but should be pretty simple if you just want to press a button to start/stop recording, then save as a file. It is just recording the sound, so you would have to listen all of the way through to the songs.

I've used audacity and I really struggled with it. Some days I could get it into itunes some not.

Would what I proposed work even if it does sound a faff to those that know.

I have a mac book and if I plug in a memory stick I can't always find it ,  so cd is best.
