I know that there's a few teachers here on STW, including myself. This year there is a visually impaired girl in one of my classes. She has (I'm old) a 95% loss but can use a screen relatively well. I'm her biology teacher and needless to say we use microscopes as a part of the curriculum. I'm after an acceptable device that she can use to examine slides of biological material at a cellular level. The usual suspects, onion epithelium, squashed banana, leaf ts and so on. Up to GCSE standard.

Phillip Harris offer a digital eyepiece that links by usb to a tablet, this seems promising but at 2MP I'm a bit concerned that the resolution may be poor.

There's this too: WiFi 1mp eyepiece

Does anyone have any real world experience they'd care to share please, it's a very unfamiliar situation for me.

Cheers, Ambrose

Surely there is support advice from the RNIB or something?

Probably underpowered for what you want, but I've got one of this digital USB microscope, it was about £35

2mp is a full hd screen so that shouldn’t be an issue. It will depend more on the optics and magnification

Do Philip Harris allow returns? If so just order one and try it

The RNIB will be able to offer advice.  They'll also be able to suggest how the device could be funded potentially meaning the school doesn't have to find the funds

Many thanks folks. I've emailed RNIB and will update when I hear more. Good to know about the resolution.
