My old mini-dv camcorder is looking rather dated. I'm looking to replace it with probably at Kodak Playsport ZX5. Before I take the plunge - is there a compact digital camera that will take as good video and sound? Ideally something fairly robust (waterproof is poss). I would be willing to go up to about £200 something like a Nikon p300
Any recommendations??
I've just bought a Nikon P300, mainly for stills.
It does HD video, but I wouldn't want to use it mainly as a 'video camera'.
The zoom can be heard if it was used during recording and although I haven't really taxed it, the autofocus doesn't keep up that well compared to dedicated camcorders I have used in the past.
Most camcorders also have longer zoom lenses & better mics etc, as well as being more ergonomic.
Seems to be a decent camera though from the short time I have had with it.
