Anyone know of a really good/recommended diesel (it's a VAG) car specialist, in the W. Mids or there abouts? (stourbridge way would be good)

Intermittent 'miss-fire' issue, that's annoying but not getting better or worse. Needs some sort of electronic 'logging' to track it down (not showing any fault codes)

Midland VW are excellent. And you can ride around the Chase whilst they fix it.

z1ppy, they're neither a VW or a diesel special but SJ Auto's (Renault specialist, Amblecote, on the left just before you turn right up Brettell Lane) may be worth talking too. My aged Megane had a good few problems, some of them diesel based, and they fixed them with minimal fuss. It's a bit rough round the edges as is the fella who runs it but they do a good job. He's happy to look at non-Renault's too.

Another option, my old man swears by Crestwood Motors in Halesowen (uo by McD's, near Tenterfields school, again, neither a diesel or VW specialist but he takes his diesel Passat there and rates them very highly.

Just ask for the injector harness that is fitted under the cam cover .
Cost about £45+vat last time I fitted one , takes about half an hour to fit .

+1 for the injector harness. VAG don't use heatproof wires so they do fail sooner or later. Get a OBII fault code reader on ebay, plug it in, google the fault and it will most likely be "no1 cylinder injector wiring fault".

There is Central VW Audi in Erdington, Birmingham. Used them a couple of times and they seem ok. There is another VAG specialist in Blackheath, who were excellent when I used them a few years ago.

Try autobahn in Mucklow Hill. Technically BMW expert but do more. They are honest and thorough.
Or, Stourbridge automotive on the Gainsborough trading estate are also really good.

Another for Midland vw, very good and good prices. Worth the extra travel.

Last time I used them I had to walk 1/2 hour to the train station get a train to brum and walk home, and repeat to collect...! They did charge £600 for work Audi wanted £1500 for, so happy days! A ride around the chase is probably a better way of doing it though.
