You don't know what really happened on the one hand, yet you think it's ok that innocent people could be put out of work on the other. This type of campaign from a bunch of spiteful vegans, who also don't know what happened, is typical of the type of over reaction we see more and more of that is going to mess up society in the long run.dazh - MemberThere's a stupid amount of whataboutery here. Until one of the diners comes forward and gives their version of the story it's all a bit pointless. Has that happened? So far we've had the restaurant's side. Not a surprise is it that they would exercise some damage limitation.
The campaign against the restaurant (sans the death threats of course - if they actually happened) is still justified though IMO purely on the basis that the restaurant/chef doesn't seem to have a lot of respect for diners with specific dietary requirements. Far easier to just put a sign up saying 'no vegans'
not bored of all that yoga and pilates yet ?
Sorry, thats a bit oblique for me Klunk.
yet you think it's ok that innocent people could be put out of work on the other
If I went on the internet and slagged off one of my employer's clients or bragged about how my employer had treated them badly I think I would expect to be fired. The fact they allowed her to resign is probably quite charitable.
Sorry, thats a bit oblique for me Klunk.
Due to some lazy stereotyping and crass generalizations i was assuming all vegans were yoga/pilates health freaks.
I don't know why you would be surprised.
I was more [s]surprised[/s] bemused that “anti-speciesist” is a thing that people say with a straight (pious) face 😆
Yeah all species should be treated the same man. My hair lice have as much right to life as those baby seals. 😆
Cougar who also is a meathead
Wait what?!
daz h you would say that you "spiteful vegan "
I definitely think you deserve to die for not fully appreciating Gozgonzola.
You people are little better than animals
But animals that can’t be used to eat or make Gorgonzola
Why?! WHY?!!!
The fact they allowed her to resign is probably quite charitable.
Well, as she was the co-owner and her fiancee was the other, 'fired' or resigned are pretty immaterial.
I do pilates to help stave off piriformis Klunk so your stereotype is sound mate
There is likely other people who work there who will be affected by the negative reviews and protests. If I went on the internet and slagged off one of my employer's clients or bragged about how my employer had treated them badly I think I would expect to be fired. Do some reading. Once you do you'll understand the ridiculousness of that statement.
I do Yoga because I enjoy it
not mine 🙂 All the vegans I know are more sedentary than me and that's 😯
Am i the only person who finds it more than a little ironic that vegans, who wont touch animal because they love them so much, are quite happy to threaten to kill a human!!!! This seems to be lost on those issuing the threats.

Such is the consumerist world we live in. I guess all those review websites should shut themselves down so they don't put anyone's jobs at risk.
you would say that you "spiteful vegan "
Unspiteful ex-vegan (who still aspires to regain former moral superiority). Just for the record 😉

No, I don’t think you are.

Funny you should say that - Tripadviser has suspended all reviews on their website for that restaurant until this blows over. I guess for the reasons of unreasonably effecting business and workers jobs and all that.
Aye, sure.Such is the consumerist world we live in. I guess all those review websites should shut themselves down so they don't put anyone's jobs at risk.
Unspiteful ex-vegan
Sends details to Telford Vegan Action group
Am i the only person who finds it more than a little ironic that [s]Christians[/s] [s]Liberals[/s] [s]Conservatives[/s] [s]Muslims[/s] (insert any group), who are supposed to love thy neighbour/ help thy Comrade, are quite happy to threaten to kill another human!!!! This seems to be lost on those issuing the threats.
We are talking humans. It seems a shame to characterize vegans (or other 'groups') by the actions of one or a few?
Especially by cyclists. Aren't we supposed to support road-safety for humans? Aren't we supposed to be cyclists??
So why then do we issue death threats to other [s]road-users[/s] CYCLISTS via social media? Is the irony lost on us?
DIE OTHER CYCLISTS!!111 (as allegedly reported in the Daily Shitstain and other forums)
“I have reported from some of the most dangerous places in the world including Baghdad and Basra, yet this is the first time in my journalistic career that I have genuinely been in fear over something I have written.
Am I the only one who recognises the hypocrisy of cyclists criticising vegans when cyclists themselves issue death treats? Oh my head.
🙂
I await (imaginary) death threats from the psychopathic lentil eating human-haters.
@klunk If you're accusing me of stereotyping, I was paraphrasing Giles Coren, and while it might be a lazy stereotype there is probably some grounding to it that someone dedicated to a vegan diet is also probably more likely to have a generally healthier lifestyle. Hence the [potential] myth that vegans are healthier because of their diet might in fact be that they're on the whole healthier because of general lifestyle choices.
By the same token you could eat nothing but chips, claim to be vegan, do sod all exercise and I suspect you wouldn't be.
The yoga and pilates bit is a general throwaway tongue in cheek nod to the healthier lifestyle and wasn't meant to be taken seriously.
Do some reading. Once you do you'll understand the ridiculousness of that statement.
“Speciesism (/?spi??i??z?z?m, -si??z?z-/) involves the assignment of different values, rights, or special consideration to individuals solely on the basis of their species membership.”

Sounds a lot like what I said, but I bow to your pious moral superiority. 😆

So how does that wash with the "malnurished" jibe he(Coren) made earlier ? Both healthy and Malnurished at the same time His point falls a bit flat No ?
Sounds a lot like what I said
The wikipedia definition might. Fortunately the vast majority of vegans use a different definition based on the ability of a species to suffer. Can't be arsed explaining it, but the conclusion is that head lice shouldn't have the same rights as baby seals, which isn't a surprise as that's pretty much obvious to anyone.
Anyway, last word on it, which expands slightly more than a dictionary definition
The lesson here is about PR, the chef is a moron for saying stuff like that on social media, the rest is stuck in a world of semantics...
This thread is making me want a meat feast pizza and I don’t even like them.
I refer to my previous answer where I said he tries to be controversial and ends up being a tit. I'm not defending his argument, just saying parts of it had some merit. Other parts as you say, self-contradict.
I predict that this will be one of the questions of Have I Got News For You this week.
Fortunately the vast majority of vegans use a different definition
I like this approach 🙂
For a while at work I’ve been using polite words at work as code words for much more offensive things. And it pleases me to see others modifying existing definitions for their own benefit, albeit not for swearing in the office.
My preferred word is “chap” which means “****”
E.g. “can I get any of you chaps a cup of tea”
And it pleases me to see others modifying existing definitions for their own benefit
The ambiguity is over the term 'anti-speciesism'. The ridiculous example given above was that someone who disagrees with speciesism seeks to apply the same rights and benefits to a baby seal and a hair lice. That is demonstrably not the case.
I think we're all missing the real issue here which is,
Why does Davina McColl have horns coming out of her pants?
That is demonstrably not the case.
Assuming you apply an alternative definition of speciesism known only to vegans. 😆
