i made a proper dipstick error with my subscription to mbuk, so I missed a couple of recent issues.

In particular, the Jan 2018 edition within which I believe they tested some 'plus' bikes.

anyone here know which ones?

thanks in advance:)

Not read MBUK for a while but I'm guessing that the recommendation was Specialized.

There were 4 bikes in the group test inc Whyte 905 and Sonder Transmitter GX Eagle Revelation.

4.5 out of 5 for both of them.

'Want potentially the most confident hardtail you can ever hurl down a hill, underlined with a perfect plus tyre combo and a smoothly efficient all-day ride? Then the Whyte 905 redefines the limits of production hardtail performance and probably deserves a perfect score once you’ve tweaked the brakes and cockpit. Purchasing a Transmitter means buying direct, but you get an upgrade to 12-speed SRAM Eagle. That’s not the reason it ended up ranked first by our testers, though. It was the favourite because it’s an infectiously fun playmate for swaggering through super-tech sections or skimming along rough trails all day long.'

You're thinking of MBR there.

Thanks rocketman, that sounds like a fairly recent issue of MBR where they tested some 27.5 plus bikes.

Afaik, mbuk were testing 29+ bikes in the Jan 2018 issue.

Might be interesting to see if the 'stache' has any rivals...

...probably a surly, but what else?

@rocketman

i very recently picked up a copy of the Jan 2018 issue of mbuk

you were right all along.

erm ...huge, grovelling apology.

im very sorry to have questioned your reply.

in my defence, I'm long overdue a pair of bifocals and I could have sworn that the mag featured a shootout of  29plus bikes as I walked past the magazine stand.

my bad:(

Hang on - are we even allowed to mention MBUK on the forum?

@maccruisken

its actually quite good (mbuk), but the typeface is yet another reminder that I need bifocals:)
